Charles Keeler and Sharon Keeler were teachers and just 'kids' when they bought a big 3 storey house and rented out the attic and basement to others as they renovated it with two young kids. They had a vision to make the vacant lot into a park because the area had none. Charles Keeler was a visual artist and surely contributed to the design and upkeep of the place. He and other neighbors updated their own homes with items from the condemned houses that eventually made up the lot for the park as it is today. In Atlanta, Virginia Highland has a park like this, where the former house numbers and maybe a photo engraved on a plaque are at each point where a house stood, commemorating it. Maybe Mesta Park could work on getting these founders houses, like the Classen Family home, Keeler family home, Mesta Home and so many others marked as local or national historic sites like Heritage Hills did.
