Birria Tacos were really good! But it was the first time I had ever eaten these, so I have no comparison. Never even heard of Birria before moving to Kansas, and I lived most of my life in San Antonio, Texas and have eaten in Mexico throughout my entire life. The sauce for the tacos was delicious! The tacos are huge and I couldn't even finish them along with the one a la carte cheese enchilada I added on. Not even sure what kind of meat was in the tacos, but it was very tasty. Maybe some kind of carnitas? Also loaded with cheese, which made each taco stuffed! And then dipping them in the sauce made them so juicy and delicious! Definitely would order these again! The enchilada, on the other hand, was not even average. There wasn't much cheese in it, and if there were any onions, I missed them. The red sauce over the enchilada tasted like a canned Old El Paso enchilada sauce. Not very good. So, three Birria Tacos, an a la carte enchilada, and a medium fountain drink came to over $21 after exorbitant Kansas taxes applied. My wife wasn't happy about that. The dining room is kinda sparse, like a fast food restaurant. You order at the counter when you walk in and just grab a table. They yell out your order at the counter when it's ready. Very fast-food vibe. I'll definitely come back and try...
Read moreWe recently gave Abelardo’s another try, and while the food was technically edible, it just didn’t leave us wanting more. I ordered the carne asada plate, and my wife went with the chicken flautas. The carne asada had decent flavor, but the texture was a bit tough. Her chicken, on the other hand, was noticeably dry. The sides—rice and beans—were passable but lacked much character.
The guacamole stood out, but not in a good way. It had a strange, almost whipped texture and tasted like it had been stretched with filler—definitely not fresh or house-made. We’ve also done their Taco Tuesday several times, mostly for the value—feeding a family of four for under $25 is hard to pass up. Unfortunately, we started noticing a pattern: every time we brought home tacos, someone ended up with an upset stomach. After four or five tries, we decided it wasn’t a coincidence.
When this location first opened, everything was solid—fresh, flavorful, and consistent. But lately, the quality has slipped. Between the underwhelming entrees and the post-meal regrets, we’ve likely had...

I've gotten several different menu items (which are all more than filling), and every last one of them have been de-licious. 😋 Haven't been inside the building yet, but when the (heavy) bag of burritos enters your car in the drive-thru, it feels like you just walked into a Mexican home, where the owner just knows how to cook good ole authentic Mexican food. 🇲🇽
So, the drive-thru will get a line, because it's FRESH FOOD being made! The service is spot on.👌🏾 The attendant has not once had any type of attitude-even during the Taco Tuesday rush! That's rare. (Keep this up please!)
Lastly, the Horchata...this drink is worth every nickel and dime it costs. It's like drinking cinnamon liquid dopamine. I don't think I can go there anymore WITHOUT getting a horchata... 🤤
Anyway, there you have it. You just made it to the end of a review of your new favorite Mexican...
