This location is managed by someone who openly participates in segregation in 2023:
Rosa Parks: 0/10 The hostess blatantly paraded us around the restaurant as we walked by several empty booths in the front, with most booths occupied by white people. By the time the scenic route ended, it was painfully obvious we were seated in the "Black section" of the restaurant. (Hello segregation..!) Hubby and I were flabbergasted and it set up our visit with quite the first impression. It also was not lost on us that most of the couples were interracial. Additionally, my husband also noticed that empty tables in our section were bussed by non-white people. Loud and clear, Red Robin!
Customer Service: 9/10 Shoutout to our server, Taylor! She was efficient, welcoming, and very attentive. She made sure we had plenty of water and communicated well when our drink order was running a bit behind. Speaking of which, the bartender was not on his A-game, at least with our section. Drink orders took longer than usual and sadly, the table adjacent to us never got their drinks at all.
Food: 9/10 Hubby and I got our usual: the Haystack double with onion rings and bottomless fries. Their food does not disappoint. The last time we came, I had fish and chips. It was not bad but the fish could have used more seasoning. We also got the donuts with caramel and chocolate dipping sauce. It was mid at best. The prices may be a little pricey for some, especially if you are coming with a large group. It is kid-friendly and there is always plenty of servers on hand to help.
Caught in 4K: 1/10 Aside from the obvious segregation of patrons and staff, the manager made it painfully obvious that he was watching the segregated section. He was suddenly interested in the Denver/Houston game when there were plenty of other TVs located unobtrusively out of our section. He was quite the helicopter with his constant hovering. I guess he was concerned with one of us stealing a Ketchup bottle or something.
Overall: 3/10 To experience segregation at its finest is sad. To see it in real-time is truly something that I will never forget. The fact that they did not even hide it was truly telling. Don't get me wrong, the food was amazing and so was Taylor. The low rating is for the painfully obvious macroaggressions by the manager and staff. Sadly, the manager and some of the staff are ensuring harmful stigmas and attitudes remain in place. If he is overtly doing this to patrons, how is he treating the Black and brown staff? Red...
Read moreVery dissatisfied with my visit tonight. First thing we ordered was our water and an order of the garlic parmesan fries. Our sever asked if we wanted any sauce with them but when we asked what kinds he wasn't able to answer more than ketchup, campfire and bbq sauce. About 15 minutes later, we finally got some fries, no sauce. Between the three of us, the 9-10 fries were gone in about 30-seconds, flat. We ordered a couple of burgers, medium rare and a corn dog kids meal, not to mention an appetizer. Well, another 15-20 and we got our appetizer. I was under the impression it was supposed to be there to give us something to keep us busy and keep us from complaining, but I was wrong. Burgers and many mini corn dogs arrived. Well, at least I got a medium...well, dang. Even the burger! Wait, how many mini cornies? 9?! Daaaang...I guess my 6 year old should have paid better attention to the kids menu and made the choice for 6. Well, after he ate what he could, he had that six pack left (hey, waiter, can we get that $4.99 back?). I had to keep checking to see if I ordered an "impossible" burger because this 1/8" thin party reminded me of a school soy burger. I'm talking 1993 soy burgers. Whatever, be grateful, keep chewing...got the bill as the server says "whenever you're ready" and as I try to hand him my card, he runs off...$50 and change?!?! How much was my soy burger? Oh, there isn't a breakdown of what each thing cost? That's weird...I'll ask him if he can print out a breakdown. Wait, what, am I crazy?! I mean this kid was nice, but he is sloooooww. Now for the tip...hmm 2% seems about right tonight. Absolutely not though, I mean, I don't know what kind of day these people are having. I don't know what's going on in their lives. If they are dealing with even a fraction of what's on my mind, then I get it. Even if they aren't, oh well, they too, are human. As much as my first-world, entitled mindset fights me, let's do 15% and just chalk this one up...
Read moreI never leave bad reviews but... Y'all should know... Man that was disappointing! I have always been a big RR fan. Their food and service is always amazing, but this last time was something else. Wait staff seemed tired and annoyed, my wife's glass came with a nice wet straw wrapper attached from the kitchen, it goes on and on. I haven't been here in several months, so I know COVID has changed the way a lot of places function, but my goodness. The napkins they gave us were not the usual cloth, but rather the exact commercial-style dispenser napkins that are used in the bathroom! They have changed the recipes as well, but the prices sure don't reflect. I ordered the Black and Bleu burger and the wife ordered the scorpion pepper burger. The scorpion is new so I can't vouch for it's quality but I've had much of the menu in past visits, and it has always been fresh and exceptional. Both burgers were served on very cheap BK/McD's style buns, the lettuce has gone from fresh leaves to bagged shredded which joined the sauce into a mushy conglomeration of sadness. I believe there were mushrooms on it, and a couple pieces of "caramelized" onion but it was mostly just a squishy disappointment. The scorpion was much of the same minus some mushiness. Mostly bland. The sauce was pretty good but it didn't pull through. I'd put money on the beef being downgraded as well, not to mention undercooked, contradictory to what was ordered. It's really sad to see the place like this. I didn't complain to the waitress because it's nothing she could address. It's an issue of management, corporate or store level I don't know. I suspect the former. I understand the season has been tough, but I've dined in several places in the last 6-8 months and nowhere has dropped their standards but Red's.
I don't recommend dining here at the moment. Not until we get word that they are back up to their usual standards. They really should address their customers...
