East Lake Cafe — Restaurant in Oldsmar

Hate to give a poor review but they need to know to figure it out better. 1st time there food was good but we were given 2 teas with 1/2 a tea bag worth of grounds/leaves covering the bottom of both glasses,(or at least that's what I'm gonna keep telling myself it was since no one bothered to say anthing just took them away) left it alone asked for water instead. No biggie, things happen. Breakfast was good so figured we try it again. 2nd time there, we sat there forever waiting on two meals 1130 am on sunday nothing fancy just a cuban and a breakfast skillet. After 2 other families who ordered after us were served first my husband said something (not rude) to a server and all he was told was they were "backed up". No offer to check on wait time just kind of an oh well attitude from what i heard, so we decided to leave. Very poor customer service today, didn't check back to see if we needed drink refills or even to just let us know there was a delay, during this wait time either. And a back up really doesn't explain why two other tables that were seated and ordered after us were served first and no one checked back on us after getting our drinks and us sitting there for well over 30-40 minutes just waiting. I will correct myself as a waitress did walk up and ask if we were waiting for our check during this time waiting and i said no we are waiting on our food and she just walked away with out another word to us. I don't think we will try it again after this experience. Hope they can improve after...

I'm not sure where to start with my 1 star rating...

I came in a couple months ago for a carryout and was met with rudeness. An older lady came up to me with a "what do you want" greeting. I got my carryout and left... Didn't really think about it until today.

Today's experience was horrendous. It was pretty busy and no one knew what the heck was going on. It was like every single person working there was new. I couldn't even tell you what our server's name was, I think it started with Ash.

Anyway, we were greeted again with a what do you want hello. We got our coffee and water, order was taken and that was it. We waited about 40 minutes for our food and was never visited by our server again. No sorry about the wait or would you like more coffee and water? Nothing.

Another sever about 35 minutes into waiting asked if we wanted more coffee and water, which we got, but that was it. Our food came and about 5 minutes into eating, our server returned with the bill and left. No how is everything, can I get you anything else, nothing.

I know people are jerks most of the time in this situation, but ignoring your customers is even worse... Please explain to your staff that some kind of pleasant greeting is required when your customers come in the door. A what do you want is not going to work. This was the first time I did not leave a tip.

We probably won't be coming back here and will try other breakfast places...

Unfortunately the food isn’t that great and the service is mediocre. This was my first time and when I arrived, I was seated with a very busy menu at a dirty table. I had to request the table be cleaned..I even assisted by holding the condiments and utensils which she already sat on the dirty table. After several minutes of reading the confusing menu, 1 waitress came over and didn’t even say hi or introduce herself just asked what I wanted to drink. Another waitress came over and did the same and asked what I wanted to eat..just like that! I explained it was my first time and asked what would be a good recommendation or the brunch specials..she didn’t have an answer. She just stood there and then suddenly remembered there was a menu and told me to refer to it. When I finally decided on a crab meat and hollindaise omelet with fried green tomatoes it was very bland and tasted old and greasy. The green onions were old. The best thing about the experience was the outdoor seating, the Bloody Mary and the prices are not bad..if the food and service matched. If I had any recommendations it would be to RETRAIN your ENTIRE STAFF and maybe clean the grill and get fresh ingredients. Not a good experience and unfortunately I won’t be back, which is disappointing, this place has a lot...
