A few months ago, I brought my engagement ring and a sterling silver black onyx ring in to have them sized down after losing weight. The first thing that made me uneasy about this guy was that the minute I handed him my rings, he immediately put on his jeweler eye spectacle thing ago inspect the main stone of my engagement ring. First of all, WHY?... you're resizing my ring, not working at a pawn store. Then he abruptly told me that the main stone wasnât a real diamond (like it was negative for an engagement ring to have anything but a diamond). I told him itâs a Moissanite, which I personally wanted for my ring. That whole interaction rubbed me the wrong way. All I could think was what if he did that to someone who thought their engagement ring actually was a diamond ring! Iâd be so embarrassed.. or angry. The fight that could cause for some couples (I personally wouldnât care, but Iâm sure there are other people that would be super upset with their partners).
Anyway. The jeweler said he'd have my rings ready the next day and he'd call me when they were finished. I changed around my entire day so I could wait for the phone call and get my rings. He never called. I googled the hours of operation and saw he closed in 15 minutes so I called for an update. He obviously hadn't touched my rings since I dropped them off. He had no idea who I was or what order I was talking about (sir, you saw me less than 24 hours ago!). He even wrote my information down wrong and I had to give him information from my receipt. It all took way longer that it should have to locate my order. He told me to come over, and that he'd have both rings resized and ready by the time I got there. I told him I only lived 15 minutes away, but he insisted he'd have them done, which... wow. How do you resize two rings, make sure the bands look good, clean & shine them both...IN 15 MINUTES????
They were done by the time I got there and OH. MY. GOD do I regret taking my rings to this place!! I don't know what he did to my black onyx ring, but the stone setting was bent in multiple places and the stone fell out within a few hours after picking up.
And that leaves my engagement ring. Not only did he leave dark solder marks where he resized (which are still visible months later) the band is all skiwampus. It's not rounded and it's completely uneven... fat on one end and skinny on the other. The band part of my ring does not look like the same ring I took in (only smaller).
I'm devastated. I payed quite a bit just to have my rings damaged and destroyed. My black onyx ring is beyond repair. And not only did I pay him money, he also got to keep the leftover gold and silver from my rings.
I've taken my engagement ring to a few different places to have the damage fixed, but the cheapest I've found is $240. Thatâs how damaged my ring is. There were two girls helping me at one of the jewelry stores I took my engagement ring in to for an estimate. One of the employees asked me where I went to have my ring resized. When I told them Jensen Jewelers, they looked at each other, smiled and said "yeah, lots of people bring us their jewelry after taking it there for repairs.â I was shocked, yet, not surprised one bit. After all, he didnât just mess up one, but TWO rings. Literally my entire order.
That conversation is why I waited months to post this review. I donât like posting negative reviews. But after finding out how freaking expensive itâs going to be to fix my engagement ring (literally triple what I paid for two ring repairs) I feel a responsibility to let others know my experience.
PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR JEWELRY HERE. The jewelry we care enough to have resized are often expensive pieces that have a lot of meaning. Donât make the same mistake I did. I know this was a really long review, but I want everyone to know the details behind my review and why I DO NOT RECOMMEND...
Read moreI went to this establishment to sell some of my jewelry. Some of this was Gold and diamond but most was Silver and some did also have Diamond in it. I also did have some silver that did have lab created stones in them, however, there was a sign on the front of this store that said "WE buy Gold and Silver?" At least I thought that's what I had seen, and even if I couldn't sell all of it, I thought maybe I could get rid of some of it. Well, I went in and waited for a few minutes only to be abruptly told that the owner didn't buy any of the stuff I brought in. First he said he only dealt in estate jewelry but then he said there was no value in silver right now. While I know that the value of silver is down right now, Sir, you must learn to read your customers a little bit better. I asked for further recommendations on any other places that might be able to help me out because even though my jewelry is extremely sentimental to me, you never know what someone is going through in that current moment in time and maybe, just maybe, they are needing a little bit of help, financially to cover the cost of their bills. So, the next time, before you turn someone away and say that you can't help them or make recommendations to refer them to some place that may be able to help them, try understanding their situation first and what it is they need to do. One last thing. You may want to update your sign in your front window to be much more specific on your terms of what you will or...
Read moreMy husband purchased my engagement ring from Sonny and they worked together to find the perfect diamond for the center of it. I've never had such a beautiful ring before and was so nervous about the sizing and Sonny was gracious to resize it like 3 times - it would have only been one time had I listened to his professional advice. While visiting for one of those sizings (that's a real word now), I knew I singled out the wedding band that I wanted to have. When my husband accompanied me during a visit, my husband and I, with Sonny's help, selected one of Sonny's custom creations as my husband's wedding band. Sonny even further customized his piece to match my rings by adding a strip of yellow gold. We love how he used that strip of gold to secure the diamond in his band. We have had so many compliments on our rings and are so happy with them. Thank you Sonny for your awesome artwork, quality, kindness and patience. If you're trying to decide if Jensen Jewelers is right for you, feel confident that Sonny is going to do...
