I rarely do reviews. I rarely look at reviews unless it’s a restaurant that I am considering on vacation. Tonight, I was visiting Southaven/Olive Branch. I was in the mood for seafood but didn’t expect to find anything open on Monday, July 5th. I went to my google maps and then restaurants and I just happen to be less than a minute from this restaurant. So here is my overall non-bias opinion of this restaurant.
I walked into a clean restaurant and was greeted by friendly employees. I had chosen to get the catfish fillet and shrimp platter. The food came out timely.
I was given plenty of all of their sauces. The flavor of the tarter sauce was great. I was also given hot sauce, ketchup, and cocktail. All of the food had a good flavor. The fries were seasoned well and they give you more than enough. The fried shrimp was wonderfully flavored. The fish had a good flavor and I was glad that they only use a meal base on their fish. I was also glad to see that the fish was stripped rather than whole fillets.
I am giving this restaurant a 4* for two reason, one, the slaw was ruined which I usually don’t eat slaw unless it is exceptionally well and almost like a dessert from having so much sugar. Secondly, the fish was overall good and for many, it would be great. For me, even though the fish was stripped rather than whole fillet, it was a little “wet”. I prefer that catfish to be almost crispy and in strips. Over all the fish had a great taste but if I return in the future, I will ask them to cook my fish until crispy. Overall a good ...
Read moreMy family and I visited here on the crab special day. I will admit that the hostess was nice, and the food came out quickly. This should be noted first. Outside of that, here are some of the issues that docked stars. We got part of an order, and when we asked about the second part, the hostess said to us, "Oh, you really wanted that?" Caught us off guard, but she was not mean or have an attitude about it. It's just strange to ask that. She apologized and brought it out quickly. The second thing was pricing. I don't remember the exact cost, but I remember it was $1 more than what was said and written. For example, it was posted as $14.99 per bag, and we were charged $15.99. In addition, we were charged an extra 15% service fee and about 3% because we used a card. With the misrepresented pricing and unnoted fees, our meal was almost 20% more than what was advertised. This made it about regular price. Lastly, the door is broken, and the area is dark and cold (in the winter). That is a hurt to the business and has nothing to do with the good mentioned earlier. I would most likely go again on the day of the special, but I know what to expect. The larger issues had nothing to do with food or...
Read moreWe came by one night wanting to celebrate. Unfortunately, when we arrived the fire alarm was going off nonstop. We were greeted promptly and welcomingly. We were informed there had been an issue and unfortunately the alarms wouldn't be stopping and they couldn't do anything about it. The lady was so kind, professional, and personable. She offered the option to order as take out but we opted to dine in. We ordered a couple of drinks and perused the menu. The food smelled absolutely delightful. However, after a while we realized we couldn't stand the sound and the menu prices were unreasonable in our opinions so we opted to leave. I wish I could recall the lady's name who assisted us as she was truly the highlight of this establishment. She clearly has the patience of a Saint to deal with that siren all night but to still be so friendly, warm, and attentive. Honestly, if it weren't for the exorbitant prices, we'd definitely be regulars. Also, in case anyone is wondering this establishment doesn't...
