You want to know how to nearly shut down a drive through? I can tell you. At least I can tell how to do it at this Popeyes. Order a chicken po'boy. Seriously. It'll cause everyone's brain to come to a complete stop. There is something about the words "chicken po'boy" that causes a total reboot of the Popeyes employee. And to top it off, when you do finally get this mysterious, unheard of po'boy, the rest of your order will be wrong.
This by itself wouldn't be so bad if you could talk to someone, anyone, with an attention span longer than that of the common housefly. I don't say that lightly. I've given this restaurant multiple opportunities to get this right and have attempted to place the exact same order with no less than a dozen drive through attendants. There must be something about their process that is so intensive that it disables their ability to hear more than three words in a sequence.
This is how my orders go.
Drivethrough: (greeting) May I take your order? Me: Yes ma'am/sir. I'd like to get a chicken po'boy, a large... Drivethrough: You said... a... a chicken po'boy? Me: Yes. Drivethrough: Please hold. (30 seconds go by) Drivethrough: Okay. I've got a chicken po'boy. Will that complete your order? Me: Um... no. I'd also like a large unsweet tea and two bis... Drivethrough: You said a coke? Me: No. Unsweet tea. Drivethrough: I got you down for chicken po'boy and a medium sweet teat. Will that be all? Me: NO! A chicken po'boy, a LARGE UNsweet tea, and two biscuits! Drivethrough: Hold on. (30 seconds later) Drivethrough: Alright. Pull around to the first window. (At window) Drivethough: You had the shrimp po'boy, coke, and a biscuit? Me: Forget it. (driving off)
This is representative of my experience, no kidding, around ten times IN A ROW at this Popeyes. I don't know what the problem is, but management needs to be paying a lot closer attention to the service going on and should invest a heck of a lot more time training these people to two things. Shut up, and listen to the customer. Those two things are the key to fixing nearly everything wrong with this branch, just not running your mouth and listening to the customer. Apparently, though, that's too...
Read moreIt really has been hard to find a Popeyes open now days, much less one that the service and food is good. I feel like both have diminished a lot since covid. Managers don't care, employees don't care or want to work. Just makes me sad because I used to love Popeyes.
From the time I got in the drive through line, to the time I left the window, it took 55 mins to make that journey around the building. Only the drive through was open, so we weren't competing with inside foot traffic. I'm not sure if no one preped food, or just didn't care, but when I called the store from sitting in line and asked what the expected drive through time should be, they told me the line wasn't long and shouldn't take long. She seemed a bit shocked when I told her I was already in line, had been waiting a while, and the line was not in fact short. Them I was given the excuse we were waiting on strips. So, the car in the window that we watched wait for 20 mins, just at the window, was waiting on strips? So the whole time from when they placed the order at the board, to the point they finally make it to the window, and then having to wait another 20 mins, justifies waiting on strips that should have at least started to cook when they placed the order?
Ugh. I'm just about done with Popeyes. I used to love the chicken. I say used to because even the 55 min wait didn't justify the meh flavor I got from this place. Apparently they can't prep the chicken right either. The one in Horn Lake is even worse. Never open, and long waits when they decide to open.
Popeyes had a good run but it looks like they gave up in Southaven at least. Time to move on.
Update 8/26/23: still taking forever to get through the drive through. This time it took 30 mins to get to the order box and another 15 from there to get food. So 45 mins in...
Read moreOn May 31, 2019 @ 5:40-ish, the drive thru was packed so went inside thinking it would be a faster process. I get in and the young lady the counter did not greet anyone and she was talking constantly while taking my order (not taking it). I was once a manager and I know the roles of a manager. The manager on duty said that he was not responsible for the lobby looks or the speed of service. He said to a customer that he has employees to do that for him. He doesn’t get paid to do that stuff, his employees do. That’s one disrespectful to employees and two managers are suppose to make a store welcoming and inviting not tell customers that that’s not his problem or job. I did not get the name of the manager but he is a average height black male, about 30+ years, and I believe his name started with an A. My experience was just all around bad. I called to ask for a higher up number and they said that there isn’t one because they (the higher up) won’t give it to them. And I’m pretty sure an employee answered the phone . I waited 25 minutes on something that host said was available at the time of my order so I just asked for a refund and went to Potbelly Sandwich Shop. I am very disappointed because I go to this Popeyes often. I don’t know if it was a different manager or employees. Another thing is there was young ladies in the back were cursing loudly while a young girl was standing there waiting on her and her dad’s order. The manager was in the back just watching not even addressing the employees who are the face of the business. I wish the business well and I hope that they take care of...
