LOVE this place. Our go-to food truck in Olympia! Vegetarian Patacon is the best!
EDIT (2 years post original review, 5 star to 3 star):
I have been a LONG time fan of Arepa. Been coming here since they opened the truck and I LOVE this place. I’ve tried a few things on the menu but my go to every time is the Vegetarian Patacon. So many colors and flavors! I hate to say, their turnover has been pretty extreme over the last couple years and the food hasn’t been quite the same since the main gal left some time ago. My order this evening was probably the worst I’ve had. Shrinkflation is real. When the person handed me my two Veggie Patacons, I noticed they felt considerably lighter so I opened them up before I left. They were half the size that they typically are and there was chopped lettuce throughout. I questioned this and he said yes, all the veggies. Well, there’s no lettuce on the menu and there has never been lettuce in this dish. I had a fraction of the purple cabbage typical. There were no tomatoes (which ARE on the menu) but he added them upon request. I didn’t see any beans so I asked, and he said they were underneath. I dug through my lettuce and found them. There was very little pink sauce so the Patacon was considerably dry. Super bummed about the experience especially considering the cost. :( I always used to recommend this food truck but these days, sadly, I always say they used to be fantastic; now, they are hit or miss. I’m so sad to not be able to reliably recommend...
Read moreThe paper bowls are not the best for the delicious sauce it needs to contain. I immediately moved my food into my glass containers. If you’re not going to eat it right away, I would bring your own Tupperware.
Beyond delicious!!!
I was looking for soul food…. I came across this gem, searching online.
Excellent portion; Amazing flavors. I got a bunch of sides and two of the shredded beef bowls, one with rice and one with fries. Spent about 55 bucks
I forgot how delicious fries are once they soak up the juice of the beans and the meat!!! At first, you’re like soggy fries, but I promise you try one😍🤗 You’ll be in love.
I don’t have a huge appetite so I was able to save some for this morning. I got one of their buns on the side. I crisp that up with some butter and added my remaining meat and plantains. I am so happy. This is food that makes you feel good!!! 🤗🤗🤗🤗
A plus I noticed they are located in this cute little food, village area… The other vendors made great conversation and I picked up some hard apple cider that’s made locally.
I’m excited to return; This time for those empanadas I missed out on and I’m not leaving without...
Read moreDelicious food. If, like me, you have never tried Venezuelan food before, you really need to go by when you get a chance. I had the "arepa carne", a shredded beef sandwich. The arepa was the best cornbread I've ever had. Soft fluffy interior with a crispy crust. It isn't too sweet, like alot of cornbread is, but nice and buttery like a good authentic tamale, but with a much better texture. I don't think it could be made better. It was stuffed with so much beef that it was a challenge to eat, and I opted to scoop out some of the beef with my fingers. Not the sort of thing I complain about. The green sauce, salsa verde, is like an herb salsa. I don't know how to describe it to those who have never tried it, but it's tangy, and citrusy and while delicious, it tastes like it's healthy, too. I would have eaten it with a spoon of I had had an extra container of it. Good food, Arepa. I plan to try everything on the menu...
