Two days ago my partner and I came in to this bar. My registered service animal was accompanying me as she does everywhere. I had even been at this bar once before with my service animal in fact. The bartender, Samantha, refused to serve us and told us we had to leave because of our "dog." I informed her that this was not a pet, this is a registered service animal in proper attire and even provided her with my service dog's ID. She still insisted that we could not be in the bar and we were instructed to leave and she threatened to call the police on us. I tried to explain to her that what she was doing was extremely illegal and that she discriminating against a disabled individual. She had no legal grounds to deny me service and so my partner and I decided to stay to go ahead and wait to talk to the police. Samantha brought out a three other employees of the bar to continue to berate us instead of actually calling the police. The other employees now stated that it suddently was "not about the service animal. We have the right to refuse anyone service." I became so upset that I just went ahead and left the bar. This bar has displayed gross discriminatory misconduct using extremely illegal tactics that is in direct violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act. I will be emailing the owner of this establishment about this incident as well. I am in contact with witnesses who were also at the bar at this time and I am currently in communication with my lawyer to see what can be done. I will be filing a lawsuit...
Read moreWhile quietly enjoying a beer with my girlfriend and some other people on a sunday night in the near-empty McCoy's Tavern, a man named Greg Whiter (sp?) came up behind me, grabbed my shoulder and held a knife to my throat, yelling something unintelligible resembling "...a skinner? Are you a **ing skinner?..." He pushed me all over the bar, and in order to avoid being injured I tried to not resist too much. When he finally ran off and exited through the fire door at the rear of the building, Then the surreal scene continued as a midget and her 7 foot 350 pound boyfriend began pushing me around because their drinks had been spilled when I WAS ASSAULTED WITH A KNIFE!!! I called the police. They questioned the bar hag that works behind the counter there who informed them that this was a mutual fight, and that there was no knife involved. As a result, the police were unable to do anything. No one in the bar came forward as a witness. Apparently this bar caters to knife-wielding ALF freakazoids in preference to calm customers not bothering anybody. I will never set foot in this place again, because it is frequented by alcoholics, homeless, and angry aggressive men with napoleon complexes. The depressed go there because they serve the cheapest drinks in Olympia, so if you value cheap alcohol over your life, please go...
Read moreIt’s not a Trump bar like some may say, but it’s not very liberal either. It honestly seems to try really hard to be both while spitting on decency in the process.
The real issue is this: this bar relies way too much on its corny tough guy schtick. The bartenders seem to hate every drink there. They will straight up tell you that all draft beer sucks while pouring you a draft. I didn’t feel comfortable asking the bartender what beer he had on tap because I could see the attitude and just picked the first I could read, and yet he still had an issue with my beer choice. He then went on to talk about how much he hates when people ask “what do you suggest?” or anything similar, so don’t both going here unless you know exactly what you want.
The bouncer is extremely sensitive and power hungry. Sure, I shouldn’t have asked him if his parents were abusive, but he really took that and ran with it and an excuse to hate me. God forbid I stick up for myself and my right to make jokes and use my voice, because he later decided I must have been drunk and didn’t belong in his bar. Good riddance.
This is a bar for people who try wayyyy too hard to convince everyone around them they’re scary and tough, when in reality they’re broken sensitive people. Does this describe you? Then go to McCoys and stay out of every other bar in...
