EXTREMEMLY DISAPPOINTED in our experience at Bonefish Grill last night! We were celebrating our 47th Anniversary and were so looking forward to this special evening out. We have been staying in due to COVID, rarely eat in anywhere and doing the "social distancing." Due to this, I specifically made a reservation ahead of time and even changed the time to 4:45pm , just so that we would avoid a lot of other patrons. Upon arrival, we were not greeted , stood there as two hostesses acted like it was a production to figure out where to seat us. Then, after the wait, he turned 4 ft away from where we were standing and attempted to seat us at the FIRST BOOTH RIGHT BY THE FRONT DOOR. Really? Not only cold there, but having everyone walk right by us as they entered! Are you kidding me? All that time it took and this is the best you can come up with? I told him "No, this won't work". More wait- Finally, was seated in a booth. Our server and the food were great! I've always enjoyed going to Bonefish and this is why I chose it for our Anniversary. Then, upset again as they sat another couple in the booth next to us. After I asked another server about this, was told with the Governor's lift on the ban, it was now allowed. He did offer to move us to another table, but we chose not to because it wouldn't have mattered. They were seating people next to each other all over the restaurant. We would have had another party next to us no matter where we sat. Just couldn't believe that many people were there at such an "off "time. When we exited the restaurant, the hostesses NEVER said thank you, come again-NOTHING! No one even acknowledged our Anniversary the entire visit, no manager came over to thank us for patronizing the establishment, nada. Quite shocked for the treatment, especially with the pandemic and people leery about eating out at restaurants. Maybe they don't need the business. I guarantee that I will NOT returning there -too many other options to choose from where I can be treated more respectfully. It's unfortunate because like I stated before, the food is excellent and the waiting staff too. Hire better Hostess staff, they are the first people you meet upon entering and should set the tone...
Read moreFirst time coming here last night and was an overall amazing experience! About a 30 minute wait for a table when we arrived, so we waited at the bar and got some drinks. The crushed pineapple martini was yummy!
Appetizer was, of course, their famous Bang Bang shrimp. I had only heard tales of its deliciousness, and let me tell you, they live up to expectations! I could've just had those shrimp for my main course and left happy. And I loved that they gave us chopsticks to enjoy them with if we wanted (don't worry, they also gave us forks if you're chopstick-challenged, lol).
Lily's chicken was good if you aren't a huge seafood person, but you have to like lemon juice and goat cheese to enjoy it because those are the predominant flavors. Very tasty, but if I come again (hopefully soon!), there are so many other things on the menu that I would love to try!
As sides, the bacon mac is really good, real cheeses and crispy bacon on top, yum! And the garlic whipped potatoes are a classic.
Dessert... well, it was a birthday celebration, so we had to get the special dessert of the month, the chocolate lava cake, as well as a slice of key lime cake. Both amazing! I'm partial to anything lime or lemon, and surprisingly, the key lime flavor is just as good in cake form as it is in pie form! You definitely have to like the texture of coconut, though, which I was not expecting to be there in the key lime cake. Still, it was my favorite of the two, and you can never go wrong with chocolate lava cake!
Last but not least, the service was impeccable! Our gentleman server was kind, attentive, and knowledgeable on the menu throughout the entire evening. Overall amazing dinner and I will hopefully be back to try...
Read moreThe food was really great! I had the crusted rainbow trout and being that I grew up in the Pacific Northwest, I'm very picky about fresh water fish and ocean fish (much the same way a Nebraskan would feel about ordering a steak in Seattle). I very much enjoyed this trout! The jasmine rice served with it was moist and delicious and I don't eat broccoli much, but this broccoli was so good I wished I had more. The Empire dip I had before the meal was so darn good as well. Who needs dessert when the appetizer and entree is so tasty?
The staff was quite amazing. I never felt ignored. In fact, my table was doted on! Drinks were refilled before they emptied out, too. I noticed that tables around me all got similar great service. Everyone was happy with the wait staff.
The only draw back is that the music was much louder than it needed to be. Perhaps I'm old school, but I do like conversing with my friends and having to talk over the music was a bit difficult for all of us. Maybe this is a tactic for a faster turnover because many restaurants do this these days. I don't mind getting in and out, since I understand the need for the turnover, but I would hope there could be a happy medium. This in no way means that I felt pushed out by anything the staff did. Not in the slightest. I just felt I needed to get out if I truly wanted a good conversation, and I usually do.
Everything about my August 3rd, 2018, experience with this establishment was fantastic, save for the music. I feel this warrants a half-star removal, but since I can't do four and a half stars, I'm keeping it at 5 and hope that management reads this and considers a slight change.
I recommend this place to anyone that loves a...
