Goldbergs in Dundee — Restaurant in Omaha

We visited on a Friday evening. We opted to sit outside in the patio area as we had our small dog with us. The substantial awning was able to shade the entire dining area outside and keep it cool. The outside seating area is enclosed by railings. This allows you to observe the highly traffic Dodge Street area as it runs through the Dundee neighborhood yet still feel separated in a different area that is part of the restaurant. The service was prompt and friendly. They did a good job although we did have to repeat the request for a small bowl of water for my dog at least twice and they brought the spinach artichoke dip out after the main courses were delivered. As an appetizer I felt the spinach artichoke dip should have been delivered first.

I enjoyed the bacon cheeseburger. The sizable hamburger patty was properly cooked. The accompanying fries were standard, good but nothing exceptional. The spinach artichoke dip was too hot to eat when initially received and we had to wait a bit so that we did not burn our mouths. The dip was creamy and smooth although it was a bit too artichoke heavy for my taste. We ordered onion rings and what we received was nothing less than a basket full of smiles and "yum's" cleverly disguised as golden brown onion rings. Well done on those.

The price felt a bit on the higher side of the range you'd expect to pay for burgers and fries even when you consider the quality being much better than any burger chain.

Very Disappointing! My wife ordered their 1/2 Avocado Turkey bacon sandwich & salad. It came to the table without Avocado?! We ask our waitress, and she nicely said, she’d bring some. What came was a dark/black, over ripe avacado pieces in a small cup. Thinking, it was just surface browning, I tried a small piece, (soft & nasty). I showed it to our waitress and another waitress, who bussed plates. I told both of them; I see why the kitchen didn’t put it on the sandwich, I wouldn’t have put it on either.; And, If they don’t have avocado; this sandwich should be taken off the menu. Both waitresses, said; I’ll tell them. I wasn’t’ expecting a lot a lot, but more than just lip service. The bill was brought to the table without any adjustments? I didn’t stiff the waitress and left the usual ~20% tip; although, maybe I shouldn’t have? Because, yes it was a kitchen/establishment issue, the waitress, didn’t advocate or make adjustments. For my meal; I had a Reuben, with potato wedges. The potato wedges were hot and crispy, and the Reuben was Ok (nothing to write home about, just okay), The atmosphere is nice, but I doubt If we’ll try them a second time. We did a Google search for comfort food, (This is Not), it’s more in the line of burgers and sandwiches. Seems like they may be relying on the Dundee area reputation...

Pretty horrible experience with my whole family. We had a wonderful waitress and she did a great job of composing herself. The fry cook with the red beard was slamming food dishes, trays and even the food around. We could hear it across the restaurant. The other cook helping him seem to be upset as well. Clearly the red bearded cook is a hot head. Can’t keep his composure. Also had no beard net. Touched his face multiple times and went back to handling food. The bartender clearly told our waitress to tell us that no more drinks are able to be served. Even tho our bartender was pouring beers for other customers….. 15 minutes before close…..

We have enough video footage to cause an issue if we really felt like it. But a simple 1 star review is suffice.
