I've never written a Google review for a restaurant - I usually just keep my opinion to myself and decide to go elsewhere if I don't like an establishment, but the experience at Salween was so bad that I felt compelled to write a review. Salween Thai used to be the best Thai food in Omaha. Unfortunately, such is not the case anymore. I ordered the Tom Kah Gai at a spice level of 9. First, the soup didn't have any chicken in it. This resulted in essentially a bowl of soupy coconut broth with mushrooms. My first bite was also a huge chunk of ginger which I had to spit out. I also didn't enjoy the bite of woody lemon grass that I also had to spit out. Additionally, the heat was at about the level of franks red hot, not anywhere close to what you would expect for 9 at a Thai restaurant that boasts it's spice levels. My partner got Drunken Noodles - not terrible, but absolutely nothing to write home about. The prices are also through the roof - I recognize that costs have increased for food/labor/etc. I'd be happy to pay for food that is exceptional, but this was not. Save yourself the time and money and go...

Even though this has been my favorite restaurant for a long time and they have been notorious amongst my friends for turning down dine-in past 8:15 or 8:30 pm even though they say they are open till 9 pm or just closing down early because it was a slow evening.

Today I had requested for my Penang curry to have extra coconut milk and what came back was exactly that - my Penang curry with an extra pour of coconut milk dunked into the regular amount of Penang curry. The chef probably just gave-up on cooking and decided not to balance and proportionate the milk with the curry paste. They also charged a nominal fee of 50cent for the extra “Sauce” - I guess i just paid for my curry to taste worse. Secondly during a pandemic one would probably not want to accept your appetizer after it has sat on another customer’s table for 10 minutes. The server quite casually brought it back on to our table giving a smile that I could refuse. Later the other customer waived back and everything should be all good right? I should probably get tested tomorrow.

And this is my favorite...

Salween has some awesome dishes and some of my favorite Thai food in Omaha but unfortunately the portion sizes have gotten so small that it almost doesn't seem worth it anymore. $12-15 for a meal that barely fills you up. There are other options that give you more for your money these days. Hopefully this changes.

Update: Changing this to two stars. Decided to give them another chance as they are no open on Sundays. I ordered three entrees at 5pm for pick up. Online ordering through their website said the wait time was 20 minutes. I then received several texts after placing my order and my card being charged that our order was delayed 20-30 minutes at a time. Eventually our pick up estimate went from 5:20 to 6:40 pm with zero explanation. My wife and I called their number several times over the course of 20 minutes and nobody answered. I cancelled my order and asked for a refund. Pretty poor experience for a well established chain of businesses. I will likely not be ordering from Salween again, especially not...

Never written a review for restaurant before but I felt its necessary as we live in times where hygiene is everything. I would keep my eyes open and would definitely not come here unless there is a sea change. Before even going to the restaurant I know from the google reviews the food is not of good quality. I ordered Thai Tea and Sweet Rice and disappointed thorougly. The ice tea has a fruit fly which I am lucky to spot but only after taking couple of sips. I confirmed with the waiter promptly. Requested another Ice Tea and was promptly given but was packaged so messy that it leaked. The sweet rice dessert isnt sweet at all! The only plus point are those waiters who greet and hear your concerns. I once ordered from Salaween but I got the delievrye from the one which is far away from my home. So I tried ordering from Uber Eats, only to find out this restaurant doesnt deliver despite being close to home. Overall scary and disappointing for me. PS: If you really dont want hygienic food please visit this restaurant.

Yesterday was my first time trying Salween Thai. I placed a to-go order over the phone at 11:10am, since their online ordering was not functioning, and I was told it'd be about 20 minutes for my food. The food was ready when they said it would be, and I was the only customer in the store at that time. I got the steamed dumplings and pad thai with chicken at spice level four. I was pleasantly surprised to receive 6 dumplings for my appetizer! As for the pad thai, their website advises that due to the nature of their food, drop down a spice level or so from what you're used to. I didn't do that & I don't regret it! The only note on that main dish is that the spice felt more forward than the peanut taste at times. However, I will be back and try dining in.

20-50% price increase + smaller portions = lost me as a customer. I used to eat at Salween 2-4 times a month but this will be my last time. In addition to increasing the price for this dish by 20%, they’ve also been cutting down the portion size significantly. This is about half of how much you used to get. Even the containers they use are a lot smaller now and the food still doesn’t fill it. This is something a couple of my friends have noticed as well. Other dishes have had a bigger price hike such as pad thai with a 50% increase. A price increase on its own is fine but not when you also serve a much smaller portion. Shame because I used to really enjoy eating here.
