I took my Generac pressure washer here because the pump cracked under warranty and Northern Tool is an authorized Generac repair shop. The pump cracked while I was about 75% complete washing my deck, a process that had taken a few days.
After a week or so I had not heard anything, so I called. I spoke to the guy in the shop area whom informed me that the pump would not be covered because it had been "frozen". I was shocked and said, "you mean like cold weather, frozen?" That was impossible because I had used it for days on the deck without issue and suddenly it started spraying water. He just kept saying this was not covered and quoted me the price of a new pump. I asked him if he tried submitting it for warranty and he would not give me a direct answer. So I personally took my time to call Generac and AR (the pump manufacturer) both told me that they had absolutely no contact with the Northern Tool in Omaha. The AR guy said their pumps rarely fail and he had only 3 in the shop from the entire country, and so he would remember a call from Northern Tool and there was simply not one made.
I gave the Northern Tool guy a chance to come clean and he continued to insist that he would not cover it under warranty. So I went in and picked up my machine. They charged me $35 dollars for the diagnostic fee, which is garbage, there was no diagnosis necessary. I couldn't say anything, because I agreed up front to pay the diagnostic charge, assuming it would be refunded under the warranty.
I took my machine to Andy's Mo Town in Blair and literally 1 week later he called to say it was ready to be picked up. There was absolutely no hassle and no charge. A class act.
This place might be good if you want a cheap tool, but their service department is a joke. They will try to sell you a new part instead of turning something in under warranty. Avoid them and their scam. I wish I would have fought the $35 more, but I agreed to pay and so I did, but they have lost my business and hopefully yours if you are reading this. The guy is a joke and stumbled when I caught him...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI ordered a weight distribution hitch September 28th and purposely had shipped to the store so it will not get stolen off of our porch. Finally more than month + went by and it arrived to the store. Week after week I checked the status online to see if it got to store until the weekend of August 30 while I was with family in Kansas I seen that the status showed completed (completed as at store? Or completed as if picked up??) well, when I got back and physically went to the Omaha store I upsettingly learned they gave it away to some person without bothering to check ID or getting a signature and however she supposedly got my order number is beyond me. Iād also highly suggest not having peopleās order setting in plain sight at the checkout counter with peopleās order number easily to get by photos of a camera of another customer. I asked staff to replace it as I was very upset about this issue and they had another at Des Moines and a warehouse elsewhere. I said get it to me and get me a call when it arrives. A month later after myself doing the follow up since staff was poor at that, I called the final time just be told they still have not got it. This is very poor service and follow up and extremely poor verification of identity to whom you just hand sold merchandise out to. Iāll never ship anything to Omaha again until management get their act together and train their staff on proper follow up and ID verification. Worse of all, I finally canceled the order and demanded a refund from online northerntool.com and am still without a hitch that I needed badly to transfer my camper legally to Kansas. Thanks Omaha for your...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreNot good service, sometimes better then others. Some of Northern Tools employees are clueless or rude when asked to match online prices on their own website. The website is messy when making online orders often they are canceled without reason or even a phone call, the stock on website is inaccurate. This store also does a poor job of stocking their metal-tech brand scaffolding they never have full sets in stock and trying to get a plank is impossible as they usually only have 1 in stock on any given day. When purchasing scaffolding beware its usually rusty due to being stored outside in the rain. In addition, when ordering anything they do not have in stock on the website you will be forced to pay a delivery fee, and it not an option to have it delivered to the store for free. When purchasing large items this could be thousands of dollars in shipping. I find this disgruntling as I pay a yearly fee for an āadvantageā membership which is not much of an advantage at all. A year or two ago when purchasing a new chainsaw I brought it in for service because I wasnāt able to get it started, I was treated like I was stupid when it started for the technician and he was very rude. This review would be 1 star if not for the 3 good employees who helped me out the other day when my order was canceled without notification they promptly did their best to create a new order with whatever was in stock and help me load it. Maybe if Northern Tool treated their customers better they would get more business and be able to afford to build an addition to store so the scaffold is not rusty when sold to...
