Our first few visits were great - this last one however, was horrible, thanks to the manager Mykael Hicks. We had several issues with our food being served incorrectly. We ordered the turkey dinner w/no cranberry sauce. Instead of mashed potatoes, stuffing, & a biscuit as ordered & described on the menu, it arrived with broccoli, corn & garlic bread. Also ordered the lemon spinach chicken - which again according to the menu is served with rice pilaf & one side. The side ordered was a side salad. When it arrived there was NO rice & had a side of broccoli. We had to repeatedly ask the waiter for our correct items......one by one he brought them out, while the rest of the food was getting cold. But we could see our waiter was new & trying so we were rolling with it; until we asked for the dressing that comes with the dinner to be brought out (4th request) and he brought out gravy. At this point my Dad was beyond frustrated.....we are from Texas we don’t have “stuffing” it is called “dressing” so Dad is trying to understand why he got gravy when he asked for the dressing that is supposed to come under the turkey on his dinner per the menu. Then the manager finally finally gets involved; however, instead of saying something along the lines of “I understand there’s been some confusion, how can I help? Or I’m sorry he’s brand new, what seems to be the problem?” He VERY CONDESCENDINGLY says “Do you mean you want stuffing??” When my Dad tried to explain what the menu states vs what he received all the manager would say was “So you want stuffing?” like he was trying to prove a point. We tried to explain that yes he wanted his plate as it is described on the menu & we call it dressing but all he would say is “ so you want stuffing?” He not once tried to diffuse the situation, he was too busy trying to make his point that it is stuffing not dressing. We then had to ask over 3 x for the check from multiple staff as the walked by us. Finally the manager told Trevor (Who was very helpful) as we were standing at the register trying to pay - that we were at table 9 and the manager Mykhael then proceeds to say - I wasn’t coming back to your table because you were rude. We were a table of 5 & we had multiple multiple Issues with our food & then couldn’t get any service after the manager took over & then couldn’t get our check to pay! We visit Omaha several times a year & have always enjoyed several meals at this Village Inn per trip. We had excellent service from Sabrina the night we arrived, had good service for lunch the next day. But after this dinner experience, I think we will find a new place to spend our money when we...
Read moreI worked at this location for over six months. It was the worst employment experience I have ever had. The manager was unkind and not understanding. She would not pay attention to the time off requests in the app, and would often deny time off requests even if they were 6+ months in advance, and not for extended periods of time. As wait staff, we were expected to do 10 times the amount of work that we were being paid for and the managers were never helpful or willing to do anything other than sit in the office during crazy rushes. I had numerous bad experiences with customers where I would end up in tears, and the managers would not help to fix the situation. The restaurant is filthy and servers will often touch food and rearrange plates with their bare, unwashed hands. The manager would often not respond to my texts Or calls when I would ask questions about my schedule or about work meetings. Eventually, the manager ghosted me. I then sent a text message about quitting and did not receive a response. One of the cooks made several inapropriate comments to me, a minor, and was fired a couple of months later, apparently, because he had no call-no showed too many times. I have no idea if the manager spoke to him about these comments. I would not recommend eating here. I would like to note that most of my coworkers at the time were great. I only had issues with the male and female managers and the one cook, who I mentioned, that was fired. I have a lot of respect for the people who work their butts off at that establishment. I just wish they would go and work somewhere where they were respected...
Read moreBamboozled. Ordered grilled cheese on Uber Eats. Looked like high-ish priced grilled cheese at some sort of newfangled hipster spot. Figured it might be good because a restaurant that just makes grilled cheese can probably make a good grilled cheese. Turns out it was just Village Inn slinging grilled cheese's on the internet in a duplicitous and dastardly bait and switch.
The actual sandwich was not great. I got a "pizza grilled cheese". It was a low to mid-tier grilled cheese with what tasted like jar pizza sauce and a few sad slices of pepperoni. The cajun fries were a small portion and the seasoning was just OK, not great and not very "cajun." Unwisely on my own part I also ordered a cookie. It was hard. For 3 dollars I expect a soft cookie.
Service was not quick when I got there. Stood at the front for too long before being acknowledged.
Will not be ordering again. And will make sure to check addresses the next time I order a pickup on Uber Eats. Sometimes I do want consistently adequate breakfast food of the kind that Village Inn provides, but I like to make the choice to transact with them of my...
