Cafe 123, located in the heart of Opelika, Alabama, is not just a restaurant; it’s a journey through time and flavors. This culinary haven, nestled in Opelika’s historic downtown, has a rich history that adds to its charm. During the 1950s, it was known as the Haynes Soda Pop Hangout, where locals gathered to enjoy refreshing sodas and good company. Today, Cafe 123 continues to capture the essence of that era while offering a diverse menu that caters to modern tastes. From succulent steaks to fresh seafood, each dish tells a story of culinary craftsmanship. The cozy ambiance and historic undertones make it a favorite spot for locals and visitors alike. Embark on a nostalgic culinary adventure at Cafe 123 and experience the legacy of the Haynes Soda Pop Hangout. I enjoyed the shrimp and grits on a recent visit and it was absolutely delicious and the service was great. The updated interior includes white linens, artwork and funky fixtures. One of my favorite restaurants in the area. #Cafe123 #OpelikaDining #SodaPopHangout #HistoricEats #cafe123

Great place for a date night. Reservations recommended here as the first time we tried we couldn't get in. The wait staff was friendly, prompt, and attentive. The atmosphere was quaint and comfortable. Food was the only reason for a 4 star rating. The prime pork chop was juicy and flavorful. My favorite part was the grit cake, I just couldn't get enough of it. My least favorite item was the Brown Sugar rubbed ribeye steak, for the amount of money it just didn't have the wow factor or flavor that I would expect. I've had better at lesser restaurants. All in all I will definitely be back. Try it out and see for yourself.

Wow just wow was totally blown away by this place. Zack & Jake were our servers and did a great job taking care of us.We started with the Crab stuffed avocado unbelievable. I had the cobia and was blown away. We live in Florida and the cobia was the best I have ever had. My wife had the pork chop and she really enjoyed it. We finished with the bananas foster made table side and it was perfect. We just returned from Europe and were missing the great restaurants that Europe has to offer. I would put Cafe 123 as one of the best places we have had the pleasure to dine. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

Never would I post something to hurt the reputation of a business except in the instance of being informed with honesty and for the good of the public. I myself wish someone would have been bold enough to speak up about the extremely poor service and quality of food before deciding to dine here. So, I am laying it out here for you all simply and honestly. One of the basic standards when dining out is that you won’t get a large bone lodged in your throat from the fish you’ve ordered, especially at a self proclaimed high end establishment. Even after this happened, an empathetic sorry would have sufficed at a minimum. Hannah, the server, casually dismissed it with an eye roll saying verbatim that it “happens all the time” after whisking the plate away anxious to hand out the check and collect her tip. No responsibility, or acknowledgment and she still got her 20% tip with a smirk on her face. “I gotcha” was the attitude instead of how can we serve you and make this a fine experience for you. There are better places in the area with the minimum basic service and attitude you deserve when dining out. It’s not for people of integrity like us. There is a bare minimum moral code for any business and that is who we all want to support. You will thank me later if you look elsewhere to spend your...

We went in a while back, but I had an absolutely amazing time at Cafe 123. From the moment I walked in, the vibe was welcoming, relaxed, and just the right amount of classy. Everything from the lighting to the music made it feel like the perfect spot for a night out. It truly is a hidden gem in downtown Opelika.

My server, Kendyl, was fantastic! She was friendly, attentive, and had great suggestions along with knowledge of the specials. The staff overall really made me feel taken care of.

The food was nothing short of incredible . We started with the mussels and shrimp cocktail. The mussels came in flavorful and savory sauce and the cocktail sauce was delicious. For the main course, we had the fresh catch and ribeye (with brown sugar rub 🤤). It completely hit the spot. You can’t go wrong with a steak here! We had espresso martinis to finish off an amazing meal, and they were PERFECT!

Huge compliments to chef Eron and company for putting together such a well-thought-out and delicious menu. Every dish exceeded expectations! Thank you to the manager, Hannah, for checking in on us and making sure we were settled in well 😄

All in all, this place nailed it… great food, great people, and an easygoing yet polished atmosphere. Can’t wait to come back...

Our food was excellent. Pork chop entree and house salad with blackened salmon entree. The salad was HUGE pieces of romaine. The chef should take the time to cut the romaine so the customer doesn't have to. Dessert was the chocolate mousse. It was wonderful! It is served in a tall skinny glass which makes it difficult to share. The dish should be a different shape. Even if not shared that glass is better for a shoneys ice cream sundae than a delicious mousse. Our server was wonderful. He was the sole bartender and a waiter for several busy tables. He was working so hard to make us all happy. He was very professional and friendly especially considering how stretched he was to serve us all. They seem short staffed, but the staff there were great . The air conditioning was Freezing. Looking around everyone had their sweaters and jackets on. I think this was dueto the fact that the staff were working so hard that they probably were hot. However, the AC vents point straight down on the tables. Sweet restaurant in need of a few tweaks and more...
