Cafe 123, located in the heart of Opelika, Alabama, is not just a restaurant; it’s a journey through time and flavors. This culinary haven, nestled in Opelika’s historic downtown, has a rich history that adds to its charm. During the 1950s, it was known as the Haynes Soda Pop Hangout, where locals gathered to enjoy refreshing sodas and good company. Today, Cafe 123 continues to capture the essence of that era while offering a diverse menu that caters to modern tastes. From succulent steaks to fresh seafood, each dish tells a story of culinary craftsmanship. The cozy ambiance and historic undertones make it a favorite spot for locals and visitors alike. Embark on a nostalgic culinary adventure at Cafe 123 and experience the legacy of the Haynes Soda Pop Hangout. I enjoyed the shrimp and grits on a recent visit and it was absolutely delicious and the service was great. The updated interior includes white linens, artwork and funky fixtures. One of my favorite restaurants in the area. #Cafe123 #OpelikaDining #SodaPopHangout #HistoricEats #cafe123

Great place for a date night. Reservations recommended here as the first time we tried we couldn't get in. The wait staff was friendly, prompt, and attentive. The atmosphere was quaint and comfortable. Food was the only reason for a 4 star rating. The prime pork chop was juicy and flavorful. My favorite part was the grit cake, I just couldn't get enough of it. My least favorite item was the Brown Sugar rubbed ribeye steak, for the amount of money it just didn't have the wow factor or flavor that I would expect. I've had better at lesser restaurants. All in all I will definitely be back. Try it out and see for yourself.

We chose Cafe 123 for an anniversary dinner, and it was all that we hoped it would be -- delicious, romantic, and memorable. Everything we ordered was absolutely delectable, from the fried asparagus appetizer to the grilled crostini bread service to "The Pork Chop," which now tops the list as the best pork chop I have ever tasted -- savory, succulent, plentiful, and perfectly prepared. The service was friendly, efficient, and polished. It is not a restaurant for every occasion (plan on at least $50 per person), but for a special occasion, I would highly recommended Cafe 123 in Opelika.

The food was phenomenal. I had the seasonal salad, bread service, the beer battered asparagus, and the scallop crudo. All excellent. The staff had their hands full attending to eight tables plus me at the bar, so not a lot of time for chitchat, which is understandable. That said, everyone was highly professional, friendly, and intentional. You can tell they take pride in what they do. And the Cafe 123 finale (on their cocktail menu) was an absolute show stopper! Can’t wait to come back for brunch (:
