Fantastic casual date night spot. I brought my wife here for dinner and we could not have enjoyed it and each other more. The atmosphere is a perfect combination of laid back pub and sophisticated bar. It was quiet when we went at 4 pm on a Wednesday. We had the famous Poutine which is absolutely to die for. We could have made a meal of the fries alone. I had the short rib French dip and it was spectacular. The onions are sweet topping to a perfectly put together melt in your mouth short rib sandwich. The au jus is the perfect finish to this amazing sandwich. The salad is such a perfect fresh acidic side to the richness. My wife had the Opelika Hot Brown. Wow. This sandwich deserves an award. The shaved pork loin on the sandwich has a consistency not that of meat. The gravy and fried egg on top make you question how you have existed before this sandwich experience. The Manhattan clam chowder is out of this world. It is a sweet tomato base with lots of veggies and tender clams with a nice spicy kick at the end. This was one of the best meals we have enjoyed together and Brook took fantastic care of us. We could not have asked for better laid back, attentive service. She was very helpful and explanatory of the menu options. She offered samplings of anything we might be interested in. This was a great place for a laid back evening. Definitely recommend it and will definitely return.

This place is super cool. The atmosphere is casual and chill, yet upscale enough to be a great place for a date night dinner. My husband and I ate here for our 10 year anniversary dinner and it was a very nice experience. They serve a lot of local produce, which is really cool. We had poutine from the appetizer menu, a steak dinner served with mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus, and bread pudding for dessert (we shared all of these dishes). He drank tea, and I ordered a craft beer (they offer a lot of different craft beer choices as well). Our tab was around $50 before tip. They opened the door for us as we walked in, and the service was great from start to finish. Our server, Alexa, was knowledgeable about the menu and the beer selection, and was kind and attentive. My favorite thing about Zazu, even more than the delicious steak and some of the best bread pudding I've ever had, is the decor. I absolutely love the industrial style exposed brick and the tasteful combination of wood, concrete, and metal. I wish my house looked like this place. I went to the restroom twice, first to wash my hands, and second to take pictures of the restroom because it was so beautiful! If you are in the area, eat at Zazu. The food is excellent, and it's just a cool place to dine.

This was a phenomenal experience. My best friend and I dined in Saturday night at this majestic place, which was an old depot building converted into a gorgeous three story restaurant that really provided so much ambiance and set the tone for what ended up being an amazing dinner. Our host Will may have been the highlight of the night. Extremely kind, engaging, knowledgeable of the menu, and definitely took pride in representing Zazu, which I thought was so impressive. They have a superstar there in that young man. The only thing better than Will was the food itself…the hushpuppy appetizers were phenomenal in flavor and texture, and the jambalaya was HEAVEN ON A PLATE. I normally would never spend $25-30 on a single entree, but I tell you what, I did and I’d do it again and again AND AGAIN, it was THAT good. Tender chunks of chicken, succulent jumbo shrimp, okra that you can see, and it had the entire taste of actual jambalaya without being overly saucy, which is quite hard to pull off, and I got all the spice I wanted and then some!!! Overall, this was a five star experience and I look forward to returning here the next time I’m in Opelika.

Absolutely above par. I love that they work closely with locals for produce, honey, etc. Their attention to detail shows in every dish. I went for a girlfriends lunch and we had the braised pork tacos which melted in your mouth with a super kick of flavor, the pimento cheese burger which was so perfectly cooked (medium of course) and had such a great balance of flavors, spinach pecan salad with salmon that was a superb blend of sweet crunchy and savory smoky acidic goodness, baked alabama oysters which we could have eaten at least a half dozen of and last but certainly not least the Poutine which we will all be dreaming of until we return to quench our need for these absolutely out of this world make you wanna smack yo mamma fries. The service was outstanding and all staff is friendly and welcoming. We shall return. With our spouses, with each other, with our families or maybe by ourselves. We went on a very hot miserable day and the inside was such a cooling, refreshing reprieve. Their a/c is on point which is more than I can say for MOST places I have visited. I look forward to many more meals here.

I visited this restaurant for the first time with my son for lunch, and it was an experience we won’t soon forget! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, and our server set the tone for a fantastic meal with friendly, attentive, and timely service. My son ordered the Pimento Burger with Duck fries, and it was everything you’d hope for and more—juicy, flavorful, and topped with the perfect amount of creamy pimento cheese. The Duck fries added an extra level of richness, cooked to perfection with a crispy exterior and a soft, fluffy interior. I went for the Brisket Sandwich with fries, and it was a revelation. The brisket was tender and smoky, paired with just the right amount of sauce to complement but not overwhelm the meat. The fries were classic and delicious, a satisfying side to a standout sandwich. Every detail, from the food presentation to the careful attention of our server, made this meal memorable. We’re already planning our next visit!
