Hubby and I decided to check it out last Thursday - He ordered the Belt Line with no sausage, add mushrooms and black olives, no problem. I tried to order the Farmer and requested to add prosciutto (which I was fully prepared to pay any additional cost to add a topping) I was promptly told by our waitress that I was not allowed to add anything to my pizza, that I "could only take away things". With no further explanation on why it wasn't ok for me to add anything, I ordered the Farmer - as is. The pizzas came out and both were just ok - Mine ended up being pretty bland in flavor and soggy from the tomatoes. My husband's, while it was much better than mine, was salty. On our way home he mentioned that his lips felt kind of shriveled like he had been eating boiled peanuts. Over all, the service was cold and the pizza wasn't anything we would return for especially at $50.00. And yes, I had looked at the menu prior and knew fully what the prices were. It's just that in both our opinion between the food and service, it was not worth anywhere near that price point. The atmosphere was the best part, but you can't...
Read moreAll of our usual spots were busy because of graduation and sorority rush in Auburn, so we went to downtown of the like for dinner and Dough was our second choice after Zazu. Had never heard anything about it before walking in the door, but luckily we got seated right away even though it was busy, and it just got better from there.
The menu is simple, the left side has traditional Italian types of pizza, the right side is more American style pizza but both sides offer build your own options. Salad was good as well with their homemade dressing.
I will say hands down that's the best pizza I've had in a long time in Auburn, and it's better than a lot of the pizzas I had in Italy as well.
On the way out the door, The manager told us that the owner of zazu also owns Dough pizza restaurant, which made sense. The man knows how to make a good meal!
I will definitely be going back even though I have to drive past 7 or 8 other pizza places...
Read moreWe were on our way from Atlanta back home to Pensacola. We had a flat tire, so we stopped in Opelika to have the tire replaced. While we were waiting, the manager at the tire shop was kind enough to give us a ride to Dough pizza so we could have lunch while we were waiting. We were greeted promptly and seated by the host upon entering. A lovely young lady named Olivia was our server and took our order. We had a large Greek salad which was very good. Everything was fresh and there was plenty to eat for two people. We also ordered a 16" southern pie and it was wonderful. Good crust and plenty of cheese and toppings. The restaurant itself is in the Opelika historical district, so the building has plenty of character and charm. We will certainly return if we're passing through...
