I visited this restaurant twice in the same week. The first trip, I ordered the Chicken and Chips which, to my knowledge, is exclusive to the lunch menu. I really enjoyed the chicken as it was cooked and seasoned perfectly, was deliciously crunchy, and paired with the ranch it made a great meal. However, I was disappointed when I returned today, Valentine’s Day, in the hopes of reordering the chicken and chips and finding out it was no longer available. After ordering, we were made aware that it was off the menu. I’m not sure if this is a Valentine’s Day-only type of thing or not. Instead of being able to order the regular chicken and chips, I ordered the kids chicken tenders believing it would be the same but a smaller portion. I believe that the chicken provided for the kids meal is completely different than what is provided for the regular chicken and chips meal. The chicken was fine but nothing special and nothing to return for. However, the regular chicken and chips on the lunch menu is delicious and certainly something to return for.
My overall experience with this establishment is fine. The people are nice, the food is good, just disappointed that the chicken and chips was removed from the menu when I returned two days later. I was so impressed with my first trip and had an insatiable craving for their chicken fingers before I returned home, as I am not an Opelika native and would not be able to enjoy this meal for a while. I believe it is a disservice to customers to change the menu, when the website shows that a certain item is available at a certain time only to find out it’s not available. If this occurred due to Valentine’s day, it should be made clear that the menu differs from the regular menu.
Even my partner was disappointed with his meal. The fries were greasy and undercooked and the burger was also overcooked and completely different to what he remembered.
Not even the servers seemed aware that the menu was different than on a regular day, which shows lack of communication between employees. Overall, I hope my next experience is much better than the one...
Read moreThis is a charming little place. It's the second time I've been here. I'm from out of state and I went back as my first experience here was great. Both times the bartenders have been very friendly and entertaining. Unfortunately a couple things happened this trip that were very unsettling. Jenny was behind the bar this time. She is a very nice person and was nice to talk to but I think some things could have been handled differently during our visit.
First, there was a woman a few barstools down from us that was clearly overserved and she kept passing out at the bar. It was odd and uncomfortable. Jenny asked a couple people to deal with her a couple times and someone would go wake her but she kept putting her head down on the bar and drifting off. It took them the better part of a half hour or so before someone eventually took her out of the bar. If you're that overserved, it's time to go. They needed to deal with her more decisively on their own or involve medical / law enforcement services.
Secondly, while waiting for our food, a cockroach went scurrying across the bar between myself and the gentleman sitting to my left. I was able to smack it before it ran somewhere else. It was really gross and unsettling to say the least. When I asked Jenny for a rag to clean the area where I whacked the bug she gave me a rag and passed it off. She said pest control had just been there and explained that when pest control comes and sprays it riles up the bugs at first. What???? i was hoping there wasn't a huge bug problem to the point one went zipping across the bar next to me in the first place. Hopefully the pest control didn't scare cockroaches into the food supply area. Yuck.
I paid the $60 bill for our food and Jenny encouraged us to come back soon. A charming place but I'm not so sure I'll be back. Those situations could have been handled significantly...
Read morei want to start off this review by saying this is one of the funniest things to happen to me. i’m actually not that mad at this experience but i think it’s such a good story. so i’ve been to irish bred pub quite a few times, generally just to get a drink. the last time i went, is when this event occurred. for context, one of the main bartenders has a personal vendetta against me lol. so i came in to meet a date. my date arrived before me and was sitting at the bar. i sat down beside them. i made eye contact with two different bartenders and even waved to let them know i was ready to order a drink but was ignored?? lol. so this continued to happen over the course of the next 10 minutes and i see the bartender (the one with the vendetta against me) talk to the other bartender and point at me. i continue to make eye contact with both bartenders whilst being given looks that could kill by one of them. so now i’ve been there a solid 30 minutes and haven’t been spoken to until the bartender (you know the one) comes and gives my date his check and i’m like “oh hey it’s not like i’ve been here for 30 minutes and tried to get a drink but i couldn’t get served.” and i was given a lame excuse somewhere along the lines of “i wasn’t even supposed to bartend tonight.” which doesn’t explain at all why i wasn’t served. so basically all of this to say this bartender’s personal vendetta against me has kept me from getting served there now??? idk. i love this story a lot which is why i’m giving...
