KPOT Korean BBQ & Hot Pot — Restaurant in Opelika

My family came in last night for Mother’s Day. We come from newnan so about an hour 15 min drive. The food here was up to par as usual, everything was flavorful and fresh. Our service however was not great at all. When she asked if we’ve been at the restaurant before, we said, “yes, and we could take care of the cooking.” The only thing she would have to do is change the grills, fill up waters, and take plates away that we were finished with. She was not an attentive server. She would walk passed us a few times without even looking at us. When she would look at us, she looked at our table and say, “everything’s good?” as there’s stacked plates with shells that need to be taken and drinks that need to be refilled already on the end of the table for her to take. That same situation happened three times. The service was so terrible that the table beside us asked us if we liked her as our server because they did not. A little later, I headed to the bathroom and I looked over where the host stand was and she was right there on her phone, as my family needed service and the table beside us also did as well. I went on launch night. There was some chaos that I’m attributing to growing pains. When we arrived the host desk had 4 people standing there going over seating. They kindly acknowledged us and resolved the issue while we waited. They seated us shortly after but no waitress came to take our drink order. The hostess came by to take our drink order, explain how to order, and discreetly changed the server name on the ticket that was sitting on our table. Our drinks came and they let us know the server they’d reassigned us to was running late. She came about 10 minutes later. There is timed seating (2 hours max) and you use a tablet at your table to make selections and the back kitchen brings them. So we were able to order without our waitress. There was so much staff standing around so the good thing is they were well staffed. The “spread” or sides are buffet style. The food was good. The buffet chicken wings were cold but still tasty. The kimchi and sauces were delicious. Overall great food, AMAZING back kitchen staff, so so on the wait staff but the place is beautiful. If I was going off my 1st experience I wouldn’t be likely to return. Since I know it was launch day and things need some tweaking, I plan to go back in a month or so and update my review accordingly. My family tried this for the first time yesterday with it being Father’s Day and it was FANTASTIC! Walking in the design of the building was really nice and they had great music playing in my opinion. The wait wasn’t that long for a Sunday afternoon which was great and we got seated quickly. With it being our first time doing the BBQ we honestly didn’t know what to do but the waiter who was super kind gave us a rundown and made sure we knew everything we needed to know. Once we got our food and started cooking and eating we were AMAZED at the wonderful taste of all of the food and we immediately knew we would be going back soon. It’s really nice being able to get as much as you want, whatever you want, and cooking it however you want. Overall 10/10 experience and we will definitely be going back soon!
