Service should match the bill. 2 people for dinner on Monday night with a $195 tab - 2 cocktails, 2 aps, 2 entrees, 2 glasses of wine, 1 dessert. Lovely server but spilled the cocktail, twice, as it was placed on the table. Server suggested the tomato basil soup, and also suggested it was perfect for sharing at 12oz. When we ordered it, we said 'we'll share the tomato soup and split the calamari'. The soup, which was delicious but lukewarm at best, was brought to the table in one bowl, with 2 spoons. There is no reason that soup wasn't split into two smaller bowls so we didn't have to pass this mammoth bowl back and forth across the table. The calamari was delicious; the remoulade was my favourite, my husband preferred the marinara. As we were finished with our cocktails - a perfect manhattan, normally, the server should enquire about a second round or offer wine with dinner. Neither happened, and we had to ask for the wine list as our entrees were dropped - 16oz ribeye cooked a perfect mid rare, and the roasted chicken (which, plated in a bowl wasn't the easiest way to cut into it), but delicious, nevertheless. The server brought over the wine list, and any thoughts of sharing a bottle were tossed since there wasn't enough time. We opted for two glasses, instead, and continued to eat the entrees. Halfway through, the wine arrived with an apology for the delay. Neither of us could finish the huge portions and asked to have the remaining wrapped for taking home. That's when the cardboard boxes and bag got dropped off for us to scrape plates, ourselves, and then wrestle with the box tab for a secure closure. Never one to skip dessert, regardless how full we were, we took home the double layer apple walnut pie. We changed into pjs, poured a couple of Johnny Walker Blacks, and enjoyed the pie after warming it a bit. It was nice to see the ice cream went into a separate container. The pie was delicious, the crumb topping was perfect. I want to go back to this restaurant. I don't know if the server was struggling with the amount of tables or just needs more time to learn the points of service. For many people, the things that bother me may not bother others, and I get that. For me, for us, a $200 tab calls for $200 service, and that means splitting the soup in the kitchen, a cocktail refill or wine suggestion at 2/3 through a drink, not having the drink spilled twice on the table, and not having to bus our own plates during the meal. Absolutely superb quality coming out of that...
Read moreTimeline: order put in 645pm, apps served 7pm, entrees at 8pm, dessert 845, out by 9pm. There were these weird lulls inbetween of nothing. I must’ve drank 5 glasses of water just waiting. Espresso martini was half foam and maybe 2oz of actual liquid. Artichoke dip was meh. Wings were on the ok the sweeter side than chili spice but what’s worse was the breading was soaked, soggy and slid right off. Fries and calamari were fine. Lasagna rollatini had burnt parts that were chewy and bitter. Chicken Parm was OK. Rigatoni that came with it had some ass cheese on it, and I’m a believer of the funkier the better. Caesar salad that was part of the prime rib special was soaked and limp in dressing. Brownie was on the cusp of being raw and tiramisu were mediocre. The ice cream that came with the brownie was a super sweet cookie dough flavor which was sweeter than the actual brownie itself. Shouldn’t a chocolate brownie usually be served with vanilla? I digress. Now to the reason why I even came, the prime rib special. I felt robbed. I ordered it medium, got much more of a medium well cook. Where’s the pink??. It was so salty and just an overly fatty cut that I just ate the lean parts and left a crime scene of fatty bits behind. I’m home now drinking copious amounts of water in hopes of not having to roll my bloated ass out of bed in the morning. Most of the food we got didn’t resemble anything close to other pics in reviews. This was one of the most fragmented 2+ hours of my life and I left hungry and...
Read moreMade a reservation for 6 on a Saturday night. The place was packed at 7:30PM, with an inviting ambiance and satisfied looking guests. Our party was filled with various allergies and dietary restrictions, but the service was impeccable. Clear communication and easily altered dishes to cooperate with various requests. Drinks were overall good; they use fresh citrus juice and the quality felt worthwhile for the price. One drink, a bespoke Kentucky mule, was a little watery and lost the bourbon flavor, but the other drinks were exactly as advertised. The truffle fry starter is ENORMOUS, and is probably the best deal in the house. $14 gets you enough fries for 6 hungry people. Do yourself a favor and order them in conjunction with the PEI mussels, and make yourself a delicious moules frites. The mussels themselves are tender, no grittiness, and the sauce is rich, buttery, and herbaceous. The basil especially brightened the sauce and prevented it from feeling too rich. The entrees are similarly generous, we all took home leftovers. The only note I have is that the steak erred on the underdone side compared to the requested doneness. The medium filet was delivered as a medium rare. I enjoy my steaks black and blue, but my companions found parts of the steak to be too undercooked for their liking. The service as aforementioned was the star of the show, extremely attentive and helpful. The evening as a whole was quite enjoyable and I would...
