UPDATE - 11/15/24
Love at first bite! This neighborhood Greek BYOB establishment is always packed, and for a good reason. Don’t let the size or location at the corner of Kinderkamack Road and Midland Ave in River Edge discourage you. My colleague and I were here last year at A Taste of Greece, enjoyed our meal, and decided to have lunch today.
They've taken a tiny space and made it warm and cozy with views into the open working kitchen. Once you are seated at one of the 10 tables, you’re greeted like family by the owner, Themis, and his staff.
As appetizers to share, my colleague, her husband and I decided on the Saganaki and Greek Salad with a cup of the Chicken Avgolemono soup. As a main meal, we opt for the lamb burger on a pita with a side of rice and a slow-cooked marinated pork gyro platter.
The complimentary toasted, olive-oiled-sprinkled pita and roasted red pepper-infused hummus was a great starter.
Themis continued to really pour his heart and soul into his food to add those special touches, creating a delicious surprise. A complimentary walnut cake filled with sweet syrup surprised us to end this delicious meal. The portions were generous and the price reasonable. Our server, Andrew, went out of his way to offer a high level of service.
This little place delivers an amazing quality of food, and we love seeing how it has grown into the best place in town with the best value, which we continue to recommend.
—————— Tucked into a nondescript strip mall off of Kinderkamack Road, this tiny "hole in the wall" establishment, clearly popular with the locals, is truly a trip to Greece, located in River Edge. The parking lot is small, and because it’s shared with other businesses, it could be difficult to maneuver during a busy time of day. Upon entering as a first-timer, the interior was warmly decorated about 10 closely spaced tables with an open view of the kitchen. Reservations are highly encouraged. The menu was extensive, with all the staples of Greek cuisine. For starters, my colleague and I decided on the Chicken Avgolemono soup and Horiatiki Authentic Village Salad with cucumbers, tomato, peppers, onion, feta cheese, olives, and oregano to share. For our entree, we decided to share the sliced steak, accompanied by Mediterranean rice and seasonal vegetables. Complimentary fresh grilled pita with hummus and roasted sweet peppers started off our meal. Themis (the owner and chef) really poured his heart and soul into his food to add those special touches, creating a delicious surprise. It was tasty, authentic, and delicious. He even came out to say thank you, to check on our experience, and to treat us to a complimentary almond dessert. The portions were very generous and price reasonable. The friendly staff, including our server, Andrew, went out of his way to try to offer a high level of service and make patrons feel comfortable, which is why we can...

I've visited here many times, and it's a place where I feel happy to be able to enjoy delicious food with good people. However, this time, I was charged an ‘Open Item Share Plate Charge: $5.00’. We were six parties, and our total order was six items, excluding drinks. I asked the server, and he explained. Then I understood, but when I asked if he would charge this even though we ordered six items in total, he said yes. So, does that mean each person here must order their own portion and can't share any? If three people come and order two items and split them, it would make sense (but since when did we start paying for this at any restaurants in general? The world has been changing in weird sometimes). But if six people ordered six items, couldn't they at least show the decency and service to waive this charge? As the host, I was the one paying, so I paid everything more than $ 200 without saying a word, out of consideration for my fellow guests, and added a proper tip. However, I will never go to this inconsiderate restaurant again. I want to say that while they may have made an extra $5 in revenue yesterday, they also lost six customers.
There were six of us, and even the receipt said ‘2 guests.’ This is suspicious, but it felt absurd in many ways to be charged $5 even though we clearly ordered six items...
Read moreTake out Valentine’s Day. Very small and very tight waited in line for 20 minutes for food order. Extremely busy due to Valentine’s. Sort of understaffed for such a busy night but watched every worker hustle especially chef/owner. They really tried hard. Food was great as usual, 1/2 dozen of us waiting for our orders and unfortunately affects the customers who are eating there at tables. Anybody who decides to dine in on any holiday should expect a crowd of take out orders/ door dash pick ups interfering with any romantic dining scenario. As we waited for our food and it was a good 20 minutes after scheduled time to pick up, we had dine in patrons rudely staring at us and making comments to back up away from their tables. There unfortunately was no way around this. To all the rude idiots staring and commenting at the pick up crowd: when you book a great spot with delicious food on Valentine’s Day that only has 4-5 cramped tables, please remember that the atmosphere and tendency of the restaurant caters more to take out and maybe instead of taking it out on other customers our money same as yours, maybe offer feedback to staff in regards to a text notification system to come in from car as soon as orders are ready. Still love this spot, and will still stare back at rude dine in patrons every time! Also ignore any requests to move back like I did on...
