Been going here for years (takeout) & unfortunately it's inconsistent. Tonight's takeout order fell into the "cold" category (of their "hot & cold"/inconsistent MO). Worse, I called from the road knowing how long it would take to get there (20 mins). Was told it would be 25-30 mins. OK, I can live w/a 5-ish min variation thinking it's Friday nite & they're busy. Not only did I get there in 20 mins like I estimated, but the place was TOTALLY EMPTY! Not one person/customer at any table - zero. One gentleman standing waiting on his takeout order. THREE sushi chefs & I still waited ANOTHER 20 mins for my takeout (all of 2 rolls&4pcs sushi). And this should take 40 mins why?! And mediocre is the best I can rate my dinner. I think tonight's visit is my last (esp after price increases). p.s. personal pet peeve (esp w/ takeout): DO NOT put cooked food anywhere near the raw as it will cook it!!! Yes my tuna sushi was partially cooked from other items...
Read moreReally surprised at all the great reviews. We live in the area and stopped in this evening to give it a try. because our regular sushi spot is closed on Sundays. Only one waiter, not too busy but we still had to wait 15 minutes after getting seated for the waiter to even walk over to our table. Ordered a Bronx Bomber roll and it was probably the worst roll I have ever eaten. All the fish was minced up into a paste and stuffed into the roll. I was expecting intact pieces of fish and the menu didn't say otherwise. The taste was not good and I felt like I was eating cat food. Also got a spicy tuna roll and it was average and small. The worst part was that the sushi was really expensive, even for Bergen County. I wouldn't mind if the sushi was great but not for mediocre sushi! Left really unsatisfied and we will not be returning. Too many other better spots...
Read moreBest sushi in Bergen County. Hands down. Has been for years. The ambiance is cozy, but it's the freshness of the ingredients and well-formed rolls that make this gem stand out.
My favorite dish is the Sushi and Sashimi platter. Here's a brief taste of what it's like: Imagine the California roll part of the plate. The avocado is creamy, the crab is subtly sweet, the ripe cucumber is crunchy, and the rice is perfectly intact.
Now think of the salmon sashimi (there is a wide variety of nigiri and sashimi in addition to the California roll, but the salmon is my favorite part of the dish). It tastes delectable, buttery and practically melts in your mouth.
The head sushi chef is incredibly accommodating, and the quality of the food never wavers. I've been going there for 15 years, and I don't plan...
