My mom and I stopped in for lunch yesterday, as she lives around the corner, because we were really in the mood for chinese food and no other restaurants in the area have been good. We were immediately greeted by the most friendly owner of a restaurant I had ever met! She offered some great suggestions and even gave us samples of tea to bring home - it was a lovely in store experience. I knew that if the food was as wonderful as the service, we were in for a real treat.
And boy was I RIGHT! Everything tasted SO fresh and not processed with any coagulated sauces. We had ordered beef with green beans and singapore mei fun, both favorites of ours and exceeded my normal expectations. I am a stickler about fried rice and you can tell that all of the vegetables tasted like stir-fried veggies (which made me insanely happy) and the rice had been recently cooked. The true star of the show, however, were the homemade dumplings. We got the steamed pork and shrimp wontons and they were out of this world! Super tasty and it made me want to go back and try all of the other options.
Overall, if you are in the mood for some really good asian cuisine, you must come and try...

We got there and at first got confused on where to park, but we found the parking lot right on the back right side of the store when you are facing it. There are parking spots on the street as well, just about 20-40 feet by the store if you are looking for a parking light.
My girlfriend went in the get the food and told me that there was a baby in the front in a hightop chair and then she saw the owners. Personally they weren't rude to her but I could definitely see why someone could confuse it for just a rude tone. Anyways they were very accommodating, the food was hot, the rice was great and the egg roll was tasty. If you are looking for a more upscale place this is not the one, but if you want a family/NYC-style takeout Chinese spot, this is a great local one!
And to the lady or people mad about the kid, man, I just condem the mother for being hard-working and trying to provide for them at the same time as...
Read moreDid not have a great first experience with this Chinese takeout place.
My wife called and asked if the Hunan beef dish had black beans as an ingredient. The woman hastily told her that was NOT an ingredient.
She placed an order for three dishes and one of them was Hunan beef.
I picked up the order and when I returned home, we saw that they gave us Hunan chicken, not beef. Also, the dish did in fact contain black beans! (I realize we asked about Hunan beef but my strong hunch is the sauce is the same for both meats)
Hence I called and informed them of their error and I simply asked for a store credit for the next time I ordered from them.
The woman told me to return and bring back the dish, and I told her it was a 35 minute round trip and that was not going to happen. Essentially, she said I needed to return the dish in order to get any sort of credit. Sorry..that's not really rectifying their error, IMO.
Overall, the food was 3 stars and the service was 1 star so that makes this a 2 star review.
But I'm not going back. There's a lot of good competition so it's not worth it given...
