First let me start by saying this was my first time in and the service was excellent and the ladies working here are very friendly and helpful. The food was hot so that is a big plus. It would appear that maybe the business was in the middle of a transition? I purchased two orders of waffles, a Mediterranean scramble, two orange juices ( bottled 😢), and a medium Americano. Total was $43.50 The waffles: everyone has different preferences for waffles; these were the consistency and flavor of a pancake but in the shape of a waffle. No crispiness just spongy and thick like a pancake. They had whipped cream and powdered sugar on them but no butter. For $9 dollars all you get is the waffle. 🤷‍♂️ The Mediterranean scramble was nearly $15. It came with a slice of orange, potatoes and the scramble. The potatoes were excellent. The scramble was bland. What could have been very flavorful just didn’t have the right ratio of sun dried tomatoes and feta cheese to my liking. The Americano was terrible. Wish I had taken the time to ask what roast they used as that may have cleared up questionable taste. It taste burnt and or like it had been brewed with water that had a “taste” to it; such as chlorinated or hard water. I try my best to spend my money with small business as much as possible. We were really hoping this could be a place we regularly visit but based on this experience we feel like we will keep searching.

Elka Bee's Coffeehouse in Portland, Oregon, is a delightful spot that genuinely embodies the inviting and friendly spirit of the city. From the moment you step in, the warm atmosphere welcomes you with open arms. The staff here deserves special mention for their helpfulness and engaging manner, making every visit feel like a reunion with old friends. But let's talk about the food and drinks. The pastries here are a treat to the taste buds – fresh, flavorful, and perfectly paired with their coffee selection. Speaking of coffee, their unique nut coffee is a must-try. It's a delightful departure from your regular coffee, offering a distinct taste that lingers pleasantly. This innovative twist on a classic is just one example of how Elka Bee's stands out in Portland's competitive coffee scene. In summary, whether you're a local or just passing through, Elka Bee's Coffeehouse is a place you must visit at least once. It's not just the coffee or the pastries but the entire experience that makes it a cherished gem in Portland. Stix-Dean

Went here for afternoon high tea. It was $45, which was cheaper than other high teas in the area. But the quality and value was definitely up there. The tea was in a room tucked away from the main Cafe, so it was quieter. The room was decorated beautifully and all of the plates, cups, and teapots were so cute. The owner worked with me to make a menu that fit my dietary restrictions (vegetarian and no egg-based dishes). The server who was waiting my table was amazing with checking in. They gave a lot of food, more desserts than food, and I got 2 pots of tea as one person, but I could get 3 pots if I was with others. They had many tea options sorted by black, green, white, and another kind of tea with varieties under each. It was plenty to eat and drink, and I took half of it home. Was such a cute time, and I really would recommend for a fun outing with friends to just dress up, chat, and be a little fancy.

Staff & Food are great! Amazing drinks and space.

The only thing is this place is not a great one to study. I’m treated very different whenever I have my laptop. Whenever I come to read or even on a date or with friends, I’m never bothered. But when I come with my laptop, I’m always approached by the owner or the manager (I’m not sure which one) and they always have negative comments for me about either where I’m sitting or how long I’ve stayed, etc. I always want to be cautious of the space and time I’m taking up, so I always order on the hour and make sure that there is always a seat for other customers. But this past time i’d spent $40 and I was only there an hour and they were coming up to me with complaints. I’ve been there with friends who we’ve stayed longer and paid less. I just wish they had signs or something up if they have certain laptop policies instead of how it’s been handled. I go there at least once a week and it’s a different experience, expectations and information from management every time with my laptop.

With that said - their coffee, pastries, and breakfasts have been helping me get that degree, so I’m thankful! But I’m hesitate going back because of the weird...

What a delightful, serendipitous find!

This coffee shop is busy! We got there early on Saturday morning and noticed that parking is a premium, but stepping inside was like a jumping back in time. As you can see in the pictures, this delightful place has way more atmosphere than your corner coffee store. From the booth-like upholstered loveseats to the tin-type ceilings, it is really like going back in time.

I peeked at the breakfast menu before arriving, but while I waited for the other party I sipped a most delightful lavender honey latte.

Their breakfast menu is vast - who would have known? Lovely pastry, yogurt, scrambles, breakfast burritos, even pancakes. And yes, they do have vegetarian selections. I had one of the 8 specials - a LARGE Italian fried rice bowl with avocado and angle-cut linguica. Delicious.

When leaving I asked about their  tea menu. My wife would need a nice black tea to go with her scone. They have a solid tea selection and a beautiful tea room (see picture) to sit and sip. Rather than the noiser communal atmosphere of the larger coffee space, the separate adult tea room is a perfect place to read or concentrate over...
