Can't Get Enough of Portillo's Breakfast Menu? You Can Get it at These New Chicagoland Locations

This Portillos is located in Tinley Park. I've been here numerous times and have went through the drive through and dined in and ate. The drive through is usually very long but my most recent experience was Sunday around 11 AM and there was no wait at all in the drive through. I gave my order and paid and pulled up to the window and waited. It took a little while to get my food. I ordered a single cheeseburger with everything minus the mayo and ketchup. I also got a large order of fries and a piece of chocolate cake. I hadn't ordered a burger from here in awhile so I thought I would mix it up and get one as I usually get a hotdog with everything or a beef sandwich. The cheeseburger was disappointing it was small and the bun overwhelmed it. The toppings were scant and the piece of lettuce was wilty too. The large fry was also lacking this visit. Usually when I get an order of fries here no matter what size, the box is overflowing with long, fresh hot fries. Not this time, the fries I got were mainly all the bottom scraps that were the hard small ends except for a few long fries and the box was not overflowing let alone completely full. The chocolate cake still tasted the same and good and moist as usual. However, I did notice they gave a smaller size portion of cake than they used to give and of course charge more for it. I think my total was around $18 plus tax for these 3 items and really not worth it. In the past Portillos was my go to place for fast food items like hotdogs, beef, and the like but I may have to reconsider based on my most recent visit...

Tried Portillo’s Breakfast… So You Don’t Have To (You’re Welcome) I’ve been eyeing Portillo’s breakfast ever since they announced it—like a kid waiting for Christmas morning, but with more cholesterol. So when I was driving past the Tonley Park location, stomach growling louder than a Portillo’s lunch rush, I decided it was finally time. I ordered the bacon, egg, and cheese croissant and (because I believe in dessert for breakfast) their famous chocolate cake but as a donut. Apparently, there’s a breakfast deal—any sandwich, hashbrowns, and iced coffee for $7.99—but in true “me” fashion, I found out about that after I ordered. Classic. Walking into Portillo’s at breakfast time is like stepping into an alternate universe. The place was a ghost town. No beefs sizzling, no loud orders being shouted out—just me, a lonely breakfast pioneer. Now, the sandwich? Eh. The eggs were runnier than a toddler with a cold, and the bacon was cold and flavorless—like it had just given up on life. The croissant was decent, but overall, it was like breakfast showed up to the party without getting dressed. BUT… the chocolate cake donut? That was a sleeper hit. Moist, sweet, and full of the energy the rest of the breakfast lacked. All in all? A solid 3 stars. Kudos to Portillo’s for stepping out of their comfort zone, but I think I’ll let them keep their feet firmly planted in the beef-and-sausage lane. I might come back for that cake donut, but breakfast? I’ll pass next time.

I pulled into the drive thru tonight at got in line at 9:53 PM. I had gotten to the speaker where I had waited a few more minutes. When the guy came on his greeting was, "We only take credit card or apple pay" I told him that I only had cash. He told me I had to come inside in which I replied that I couldn't because I was stuck in the drive thru line and have been for a while. He said I could wait for the cars to move and then get out of the line. It took 11 minutes for me from start to finish in the drive thru line and I wasn't even able to utilize the drive thru service. The drive thru line is not design to allow cars to have an exit strategy at all.

I decided to just go inside, even though I had already waited a long time at this point. The girl walked up to the register and said hello. I asked for a chocolate cake shake and then also asked if there was a reason the drive thru won't accept cash as I had just waited a really long time in that line. She said in a very short clipped tone that they don't accept cash in drive thru. I asked her when that happened because I have paid with cash in the drive thru before at many locations. With attitude this time she said they never accepted cash in the drive thru and said there are signs saying so. At which point I told her nevermind on the order and walked away and left the establishment. I just wanted to order a shake and ask a question, I 100% did not order a side of attitude with the shake nor did I deserve it. At not one point in the drive thru line did I see a sign saying it was cash only. I saw a lit up drive thru sign but no attachmentto that stating it was cashless. It was dark and raining and I had waisted 13 minutes on this whole ordeal and I am not going to support a business who allows employees to be rude and give customers attitude. Poor customer service is unacceptable. And I'm definitely not going to support a business who doesn't accept cash which is a valid and legal form of payment.

Denying cash as payment is illegal in the state of Illinois. A bill was approved to prohibit cashless retail. Not to mention forcing people to physically come into the location instead of utilizing one of the business amenities that is open to the public is discriminatory. It excludes drive thru use for those who may need it such as handicap, disabled, families who are inconvenienced having to unload children to come into the location, people who may have pets in the car, and more. It is also an inconvenience in poor weather such as rain (like tonight) or snow or excessive heat not to mention a hazard in wet conditions as a customer may slip, fall, or be injured attempting to enter the building instructed by drive thru staff when they could have remained safely in their vehicle.

The service here and at the Oak Lawn location is extremely poor. The workers are rude, inappropriate, and unprofessional and most time the orders are wrong. After many unsatisfactory visits to the oak lawn location I decided to give Portillo's one last chance and visiting the Tinkey Park location was equally disappointing. Both employees I interacted with were rude and the girl at the front counter got an attitude right away when I asked a simple question that I wasnt even mean/rude about when asking. We won't give our money to this company anymore, we will go to Pops instead where they always have wonderful customer service, competent service, great food, and they accept cash. Portillo's just isn't worth it anymore. It's always a headache dealing with the rude staff, the order is never accurate, and the food has gone downhill in the past 10 years. Do...

*EDIT 7/24/23 STILL nothing will be escalating to the BBB today *EDIT posted this days ago and reached out via link provided in their generated un-personal reply and NO ONE got back to me about anything. YOU SHOULD BE EMBARRASSED

As a Chicago native Portillos is a staple. I will never again go to any location after this. I put in an order days in advance for a catering pick up I scheduled a pick up for 2:30 in the afternoon we were throwing my mom a surprise birthday party so we gave a 3 hour notice to ensure if there were any issues it would be fine we picked up the order and you only gave us the salads and none of the other catering when my brother-in-law went back to return it it was revealed that you guys didn’t even make the rest of the order.

This was nearly a $700 order and you guys didn’t even have the urgency or care to ensure that it was correctly made or taken care of at all. management tried to compensate us with two cakes which was absolutely ridiculous and then offered a credit of $100. Which at the time was acceptable but when they brought back to my house not only was it cold and obviously just thrown together and a mess you guys did not include any of the Hot or sweet peppers or the cheese for the salad as requested on the side. At this point our 60+ guests has been waiting for the food and since there is a complete lack of urgency clearly it would take another hour for this to be corrected for the second time. We had to go to the store and buy and prepare it ourselves. I wouldn’t even complain if it wasn’t how expensive this catering order was and you guys messed it up multiple times. And it wasn’t even a complicated order it was three trays of salad three trays of beef and two trays of Italian sausage and you still couldn’t manage to get it right TWICE. It is beyond ridiculous. Not only will we not be returning but either will the 60+ people who...

I used to eat at portillos all the time! It was my favorite restaurant, but after my experience last night I will never set foot near this restaurant again! I was doordashing last night to make a little extra cash, and noticed the line was extended all the way to the MCDONALD'S! After waiting 15 minutes and the line had not even moved, I decided to park in the lot and walk up to the door to ask if I can pick up my customers order. If this was an order for myself, I would have waited in line for my turn, but as a Dasher, I am timed on my deliveries and will get in trouble if I am late to an order. I was appalled about the attitude from the staff! There were 3 other doordash drivers that had also came with me into the store. The restaurant staff confirmed our orders were ready, and then told us they weren't giving them to us because we had to go "through the drive through" the female employee had an attitude problem and honestly I felt like they just wanted to fight. I felt all this drama was unnecessary. They could have just handed the order to me and I would have left, but instead they argued with me for 15 minutes and let the food sit on the counter and get cold. I ended up unassigning the delivery and passing it off to a different Dasher because the employees started to bully us. This isn't the first incident I've had with them. If you place a doordash order expect to wait an hour or maybe 2 for your food... Just know it's more than likely not the Dasher fault for your food being late... We try everything to make sure we can deliver it as...
