August 20, 2023 So, get this its the Sunday before my birthday, I am from Miami. I stroll in to blue jackets with a couple buddies and we sit at the bar. Now we are all here for a good time right. That being said I want to have a traditional Columbian Miami dinner so I order my meal, meanwhile this couple kept on giving my crew the side eye like we were a bunch of wise guys. We were being celebratory, cracking wise and having a laugh, I didnt know laughter wasn't on the menu. The bar manager gave me the best soliloquy to why I should order a pricey tequila which I adored his knowledge and expertise. Now this being my birthday Miami style dinner around 9 when the bar manager wasn't around I dipped below my buddies back and took a evening toots, now I didn't hurt anybody nor was it being done at the bar, the toots happened in the same hand I held my portable smoking device. Then that same couple who apparently didn't like our adult style jokes starts making a stink of the place, going around to other patrons and glaring at us and whispering in ears. Now I gotta lotta moxie, but these two wanted to break out pitch forks cause they cant handle a little cursing and good fun. Pub is in the name for Christ sake it doesn't say family restaurant, my last visit to Orlando, this place had a DJ playing my kind of music and people twerking, so please refrain from commenting this place being of high class and respectability. So we finish our meal, I leave the bartender a fat tip like always and go on my merry way. I thought blue jackets was a relaxing place to get dinner and enjoy it the way ya want, say the jokes the way ya want. not be surrounded by wine swirling yuppie retirees. Now I get it, could the volume have came down yeh, could the toots be done in the stall bathroom sure, but at no point was any employee or even my 3 friends sitting next to me aware of anything, that's how nonchalant it happen. I would have to have the set of balls these people had, to talk trash that I am flattered they thought I had the marbles to divvy up lines on a bar top, roll up a bill and start quoting Tony Montana movies... in this ritzy of a joint ya do something like that from a key or a small spoon, or in the bathroom with the female bartender. Oh and just fyi I am not Black I am half Irish Nigerian and Dominican . Clearly these people never met culture or...
Read moreThis was our first time dining at Blue Jacket, My son’s girlfriend wanted to dine here for her 22nd birthday. Not knowing exactly what we all wanted, we started with several appetizers. Mahi Croquettes- this was absolutely delicious, I could have ordered two more to have for dinner. Seared Tuna- I wasn’t real impressed with this, it was kind of dry and had a little too much soy like drizzle that was off on the flavor. Loaded Fries and Truffle Fries- both were very good. Nice crisp and full of flavor, especially the Truffle. Meatballs- has a nice flavor and texture. I’m not big on meatballs, but they were really tasty. French Onion Soup- the soup was off a little, my wife enjoyed it but I thought it had a bitterness that didn’t sit right with me. For dinner I ordered the Chicken Gyro. I wanted something a little lighter and I am glad I did. This Gyro was really fresh, good and filling. My son ordered Bolognese, it was good (not great) needed a little more flavor and cheese. Cheese Burger- the cheese burger came out and looked a little overcooked. The flavor was good but it was a tad bit dry. Fresh Fish Entree- Blackened Grouper, this was the best main course on the table. Perfectly cooked and the grits were a great addition to the dish, koodos on this. The rest of the table ordered salads, can’t really complain about a salad. Drinks Dirty Martini- I don’t do Martinis but they fast they were very good. I had an old fashion w/Buffalo Trace, couldn’t really taste any bitters or nothing, pretty much just a glass of BT with orange peel. Espresso Martini- taste more like vodka with a bland shot of coffee. Very strong on the vodka and not much coffee/espresso flavor. Overall we had a great time and some good food. I would definitely recommend trying and I will go back. Sorry I...
Read moreDon’t recommend. Went there with family on Mother’s Day 2023, here’s my experience. Service was good. Food was ok. That’s the positives. I have two main issues though. One the food was extremely overpriced. My wife and I got burgers. $15 each, nothing special just a basic burger. The smallest steak you could get was $40! I get that inflation is high but I honestly feel like those prices are just gouging. My wife and I make great money. Well over six figures so a $100 meal isn’t too bad but the lack of menu options and the insane mark up for the most basic dinner, just didn’t feel right. The second complaint is the bigger issue. It’s really the only reason why I’m leaving a negative review. My wife and I have a two year old toddler and she was with us at dinner. When we were leaving, my wife packed up the stroller and waited by the door while I went to the bathroom. She watched as the serving staff came out to our table and made a huge deal about the state of the table. She was uncomfortable and embarrassed. I just don’t even know what to think. The table wasn’t a complete wreck. There were a few plates, a few glasses, and some dirty napkins that were stacked on the plates. There wasn’t food everywhere which is a huge win with a toddler. I just don’t understand. Were we supposed to take the dishes back to the dishwasher or something? Anyways, I will not be going back there and I highly...
