I never received any Curry Chicken , nor was I notified that it was no longer available on the menu. Instead, I received a text stating, "Ready for pickup!" When I arrived to pick up my order, I had to wait an additional 1hr! There was absolutely NO customer service and / or communication skills present at this restaurant... it's such a shame to say I expected no less from a Haitian owned establishment... I was never greeted. I waited patiently for someone to address me, after growing annoyed that I stood for about 15min to ask someone about my order that stated it was ready for pickup...I asked a waiter going in/out the kitchen about my order. W/o even acknowledging and / or confirming what I asked him, he just went about his business of serving the seated customers. After about another 15min, I asked the gentleman again, "Hello again, did we get an update on my order yet?" He gestured for me to hold on...I found myself once again waiting and being ignored for another 15m before a young lady came out with yet another order that's not mine. I proceeded to ask the young lady if my order was ready bc at this point, I've waited 45m for an order that says, "Your order is ready for pickup!" When it CLEARLY was not...it is at this point, this girl tells me that "oh the curry chicken ran out, we don't have any "...at this point, I'm infuriated bc when were they planning on telling me that..?? Bc, online it says my food was ready for pickup and nothing about a dish being unavailable. I then asked the woman when was she going to tell me this and why hasn't she offered something else in its place when they've clearly been paid for both meals...she tells me to call DoorDash instead. I waited another 15-20min to only receive the wrong food. That I blamed myself for bc I should've known after an hr or so they'd most likely mess up my whole order. Their food is overly expensive, and not the best quality. Rice is dry and mushy. Shame, shame, shame... This was by far the worst experience I've dealt with regarding customer service and communication.. If anyone's looking for GREAT Haitian cuisine, please check out CICI's Bakery in Orlando... not only is their food delicious, and the owner is wonderful. WILL ALWAYS call the customer to let you know if a menu item becomes...
Read moreI'm not happy with the service that I receive from Kalalou staff whatsoever. I place my order before arriving and was told that it will be ready in 15 minutes. I arrive 20 minutes later which I had to wait because there was three cars in front of me plus one guy on foot at the drive-thru complaining about his order. I waited over 35 minutes at the drive thru before it was my turn to pick up my order. When I got to the window of the drive-thru I gave the lady at the window my name and what I had placed on the phone when I had ordered. Rather than her being professional and telling me to hold on for 5 minutes or so she continue to work on the phones and at the register after I waited yet again for 15 minutes more. I asked her what was the holdup and then when she showed me what they had prepared for me. I told her that my order was wrong and that it was unprofessional of her to make me wait for over 35 minutes and still didn't have my order correct and when I asked her for some hot pepper for my food she wanted to give me her attitude and told me that I had to pay in addition to my food when it should have came free with the food. I had just about had it with this restaurant and I gave them a piece of my mind and I told the other restaurant employee that I'm giving them a bad review for being unprofessional for not apologizing for the way they treated me and for making me wait for over 45 minutes for my food which they still did not have correctly and when I asked to speak to a manager I was told the manager wasn't present and they are starting to laugh when I wanted the lady who was very rude to me from the beginning when I reach the window of the drive-thru and ask for her to apologize when she fail to do so and said that she's not apologizing to me for being unprofessional and for being rude. That is okay because I will never come to this place of business anymore and I would take my business elsewhere where it is professional and where I don't have to wait forever...
Read moreThey have a nice private outside area with good music playing. The konpa you used to dance to at the birthday parties with nice bass. Convenient drive thru, curbside and pick up options with warm welcoming service. Their to-go packaging is top notch ensuring that your food stays warm longer on the drive home and doesn't leak in the bag. The food is absolutely delicious and very well seasoned. The pikliz is made in the classic hand shredded/knife cut style 👍 (not the new minced style) ensuring that the vegetable crispness remains giving a great texture when eaten with other foods. The diri kolé ak pwa is the business and we all know the closer you get to the bottom of the bom the better the experience. The jerk chicken and plantains were spectacular. The portions are awesome and good for sharing. Reminiscent of the old school hospitality of cooking and sharing with visitors like they were family. Feeding them and sending them home with a bellyful and some more for later. I will note that for online ordering it would be nice to have the option to request sos/red sauce, pikliz, extra sauce cups or even included with griot dishes or any dishes that have plantains so you don't have to eat them "dry". Especially since dipping plantains in sos is a must then adding that leftover sos on rice is definitely a must😊. Overall, the experience is wonderful and I'd highly recommend eating here. It was well worth the 451 miles driven down south to eat good home cooked style food that's as close as you can get to your grandmother's kitchen. Kalalou is hands down top notch and gem...
