Steak 'n Shake — Restaurant in Orlando

My husband and I went late on (Good) Friday night to grab a burger. The place was packed at 10-12am; absolutely packed! The poor waitress was 'triple sat' with large parties. 😞 My husband and I just sat there taking in the view. We didn't complain because it was obvious what the problem was. We had the option to stand up and go somewhere else but we chose not to. In all honesty I was more inclined to help then to complain. A gentleman by the name of Shawn appeared at our table, apologized profusely, and said he would be right back to take our order. I told him he had nothing to apologize for it was obvious that it was not his fault nor anyone else's. 'Now, please help that girl and come take care of us afterwards.' He thanked and assisted where needed. He promptly appeared back at our table, got our order, and with apologies again, turned in our order and said it should be very soon and apologized again. This man had nothing to apologize for. Our meals were delicious! Everything was cooked perfectly. We got exactly what we ordered. Our shakes were to die for as usual. There's absolutely nothing about the food or the service to complain about. I would not recommend going on a late Friday or Saturday night, as I was told this is what happens more often than not. I was going to give 5 stars but then put it to 4 because I think the MANAGEMENT needs to pay attention and manage their people better if they know something like this happens. I am a die hard fan of Steak and Shake! Even after I worked there in '95 and '96. I started going to the Colonial Mall location in '72! But I never had such a bad experience there! The food was cold the bacon and eggs tasted like they had been cooked in old leftover bacon grease. And the decaf was old and gross. But my conversation with the manager on duty was rediculous! And it is for her that I write this. Otherwise I would have left it alone. I am a very generous person and I do a lot of charity work. I am not cheap and certainly am not looking for a free meal, which by the way I did not eat except for the 1/2 order of biscuits and gravy. Which was lukewarm but still tastey. She behaved as though it was not the food but me trying for a free meal. Really??? A bad attitude and suspicious nature are NOT good managerial qualities. I don't know why you felt the need to belittle me and my honest assessment of my experience. But you will be a much happier person if you open your self up to trusting people. Especially your customers. It wasn't easy for me to stand up for myself and the measly cash saved truly was not the issue. It was strictly me trying to stand up for myself because I am not always very good at it. I tried my best to be pleasant about it. But my kindness was of no use. And I am sure I didn't look like I needed a free meal. And the fact that there was a lady next to me complaining that she had been waiting 20 minutes for her shake and her food was getting cold, is further testimony to the fact that my complaint was not a flimsy excuse for...

Asked for a milkshake while ordering. Food came hot and fresh with fries nice and crispy for the first time ever, but no milkshake. Ate all the food. No milkshake. No server to give me my check. Servers talking in the back area while seeing us standing in front of the cashier waiting to pay for our meal and leave. Finally, a manager decides to cash us out. It's already been 40 mins since we arrived at this point. We see that even though we asked for our milkshake and repeated it twice to the server, we were not charged for it. That explains why we never got it. We ask the manager to add it on to our order. We waited another 20 mins for our milkshake, which is sitting at the window. We ask a server for it, she says she'll get it after cashing out a line of guests. It would have taken her a second to get it, but instead we wait a few minutes for her to finish. Then she walks away without looking in our direction and continues to take other people's orders and bring out their food. We decide to fetch the manager because this type of service is ridiculous. He approaches us with a stern unfriendly face with our milkshake and does nothing to try to make up for the negative experience.
