Besides that, there are parts of this restaurant that appear DIRTY and should not be passing a Health Department Inspection, I and my family just experienced what can only be described as racism or perhaps more accurately NATIONALITY BIAS!! You see from the moment we were inside this dump; it was apparent that we, the only AMERICAN people there, were not welcome!
When we arrived, we were very excited to try the menu with all the different Dim Sum choices. I made these plans in advance as it was our anniversary and wanted to do something different. After we were sat, I looked at some of the other "Asian" individuals' tables and their Dim Sum looked great! It was 5pm on a Sunday; I look at the menu and within 30 seconds the waitress is there asking if we’re ready to order. So, I begin to order 3 Egg Rolls for my family. I get told "We don't have any egg rolls" - I'm looking at them on the table next to us!! But OK at 5pm MAYBE they ran out. The server says, "we have spring rolls" for one order of two of them it is DOUBLE the price of the 3 egg rolls, so I say, "OK give me one order of spring rolls." She immediately quips back "They're really small." So, I should order more I thought to myself??? I replied "OK, then don't give me any at all."
I move on to ask for the Dim Sum menu - I'm told, "There is no Dim Sum" I'M LOOKING AT IT ON THE OTHER "ASIANS" TABLES!!!!
I have experienced something similar another time in one of my many dinners in different places in China Town in Manhattan when I lived in NY, but I never expected it here in Orlando!!
I can see what's going on, so I order two entrees cause the family is hungry, it's against my better judgment, but I'm trying to stay calm......The food comes, it's merely alright, nothing special, the server never returned after taking the order, Oh and the restaurant had only three other table in use besides us!!
During the dinner we have a water spill, it goes EVERYWHERE! NO ONE comes over to wipe the table, chairs, clean the puddle of water under the table NOTHING!!
Fast-forward - I just want us out of there, I go to the register to ASK FOR & pay the bill, since it was never brought to us! I fill in the total and leave the TIP BLANK - OBVIOUSLY! The woman behind the register has the BRASS BALLS to say to me "No Tip?" I really don't wanna argue in this place, so I replied, "Yeah I'm gonna do that in cash." She GOES to the table to see if there is money there!!! She looks and says, "There's no money." I told her "Yeah it's in the car, I'm gonna go get the money in the car." So, we leave this DUMP and will never return........be WARNED and watch and see if this place doesn't end up in the news for Health Code Violations!!! Trust me it's...
Read moreIF I COULD GIVE 0 STARS, I WOULD. TERRIBLE AND AWFUL RESTAURANT. I literally never write reviews, but this place RUINED one of the biggest days of my life. Long story short:
I had originally booked this restaurant in January for my wedding in April with a manager named Jeff. He took cash deposit. Throughout the months between January and April, we went on multiple occasions to show friends and family our reception restaurant and each time was horrible. If you don't speak Chinese, they ignore you. Service was slow and we were rushed. It took us 30 minutes to get a plate to eat on, and a fork. Water was never refilled and we were never checked on. I regretted reserving my reception with them but I had already given a big cash deposit, thinking the restaurant was beautiful and that hopefully they would clean up their act for a big event.
A few days before my wedding reception, we called to confirm everything was set for the wedding on Saturday and Jeff said everything was all set and taken care of.
Friday before the wedding (Saturday), I brought friends and family to this restaurant for rehearsal, and the waitresses tell me that there is no wedding reception for the next day. I was in tears and crying panicking the day before my wedding. Apparently, Jeff was fired in February and took my cash deposit for himself. They said they would accommodate for me and that we could still have the restaurant for Saturday. They made me pay for another cash deposit. They said they would allow us to rearrange the tables for decorations and said we could come at 3pm to decorate our half of the reserved restaurant. They also allowed us to use the projector and sound system.
HOWEVER, the day of, my bridesmaids and groomsmen went to the restaurant at 3pm and were told they would have to wait until 4pm to decorate. The waitresses also refused to move tables near the entrance because it was an "inconvenience" for them to move it back when they have to serve dim sum the next day. They wouldn't allow us to move it ourselves either. The sound system also did not work, so thank god I had portable speakers. The microphone didn't work so no one could hear us speak. The workers here do not care for you and cannot be trusted. They are lazy and they scam you for your money and do not hold any accountability. They lie to get you interested in their restaurant for hosting big events only for you to find out they are not actually accommodating. They ruined my wedding day and caused so much stress. Let this be a warning to anyone interested in this restaurant. I will...
Read moreIt has been a while since I have been here since I do not live in this side of town. I realized This place is significantly underrated for their dim sum compared to other places around Orlando. The quality of dim sum is amazing and homemade fresh and fairly priced compared to other places. Don’t let the current review deter ya from this place. They remodeled the place and created more open space.
Food: I did their push cart Sunday dim sum, it was super fresh, decent portions and you can tell it is homemade (not frozen store bought); their sui mai and shrimp is one of the top 3 I had In Orlando. To me, if they get those two dishes correctly as a foundation, it got me to order items such as their baked buns, steam buns, their bbq pork rice paste and beef rice paste. Their food was not salty and not overpower with pepper. This place is one of the better price dimsum. 5/5
Service: I had no wait time to get sat down. yes their service is still a bit slow but it has improved a lot. I did have the wait for some dim sum dishes to be cooked. I did not mind because it was being done fresh. The waitresses were actually paying attention to the tables to make sure our tea was refilled, picking up empty dishes, etc. so huge huge improvement 4/5
Atmosphere: the place is much open and nicer. It is less cluster and they light up their stage. They need to add more small tables because 80% are big tables for 6-10 people. It is awkward to sit 3 people in a 10 people table; also it is more cleaning for the waitresses. 4/5
I bumped this up to a 5 star because this place deserves better overall rating. I will start coming back more often for dim sum especially if I have a big...
