After seeing a patrons video of Yeast Coast Bakehouse on Instagram this morning we decided to set off on our long journey from Polk County to College Park to experience this place. We visited around 11:30am and they only had two baked items to order so we ordered one of each. We ordered the Cinnamon Roll ($6) and the Bread Pudding ($5) and we shared a Brown Sugar Pop Tart Latte ($6). I have to say, the video made this look amazing, and the reality didn’t match our excitement level. We knew this was likely a small bakehouse, but we expected them to have more baked items to choose from since we thought that baked items were their specialty. They do not have any seating so you have to take items to go which is fine. We started with the cinnamon roll and the best part of it was the icing. It was really tasty and not overly sweet. The cinnamon roll itself was moist but didn’t have much flavor without the icing. The bread pudding is also moist and lacking a rich flavor. The Iced Brown Sugar Pop Tart Latte had a tasty topping but the latte itself was flavored with a kind of fake tasting syrup. All in all, it’s an ok place to visit, but maybe more worth a visit if you arrive much much closer to opening. The whole place is very small so it doesn’t look like their kitchen is large enough to keep it stocked before noon. There were just two employees present. I don’t feel a great need to return as there are other bakeries in the...
Read moreSo keep in mind this review is my personal experience and opinion but i was very disappointed here as ive seen a lot of hype for this place but it did not live up to my expectations sadly. From the moment i walked into the building i was hit with a smell that was off putting. Like spoiled bacon that was overcooked. The blueberry croissant pastry was slightly overly crispy on the edges and very underwhelming in flavor with the middle filling. It bascially tasted like standard sweet store bought yogurt with jarred jam. Nothing impressive. The bacon, egg, cheese, green onion croissant was very lacking in flavor aside from the overwhelming taste of onion. Personally for me ive had frozen breakfest sandwhichs nuked in a microwave have more flavor. Again though just my opinion. The Hot chocolate was decent but at the same time tasted more milky than chocolate. My biggest complaint however isnt the lacking in the food but the employees as one gentleman working today kept coughing and touching his nose abd had a look of sickness to him. To be honest we should have just left but drove 40 mins to try them. Sadly was not worth it overall for us. I do not recommend if driving more then 10 mins...
Read moreFriday morning. Infant induced sleep deprivation lies heavy on my brow. I stroll into the local coffee shop for relief before the work day at my new office begins.
"Well, you're the coolest dressed dude whos come in so far today!" exclaims the barista gesturing to my (objectively cool) Hawaiian shirt I customarily wear on Fridays. The other man in the shop, clearly a regular, mocks offense acting as if his title had just been stripped. Friendly banter ensues.
"I'm either getting an oatmilk cappuccino or a nitro cold brew", I tell the barista. Without hesitation he states, "Our Nitro Cold Brew is the best in the world."
Bold statement. I'm skeptical but notice that the shop uses Lineage coffee, my preferred local roaster. Lineage's own shops do not make a Nitro Cold Brew so I am intrigued and take him up.
While checking out and waiting for my coffee to be poured more customers filter in, some known regulars, some not, but everyone is greeted with enthusiasm and conversation flourishes.
I sip my coffee. It's the good stuff. Best in the world? Unlikely. Best in the area? Definitely top two. Without a doubt my best overall coffee shop experience. I am...
