Big Reds, Over all great experience. Good food, great staff, and captivating artwork on the walls. I ordered the pork belly BLT and potato wedges. At first glance I was impressed with the presentation, and it being delivered to me by the chef and creator of the menu was a nice touch. I took individual bites out of every layer of the BLT. I wanted an understanding of what kind of food was offered here. Each ingredient is well made and full of flavor. The breads inner cheese crust, the pickled red onions, the bacon, and of course the pork belly. It is uncommon for me to taste a dry rub and want to have it for myself. This rub is something special I applaud not drowning the dry rub with wet sauce before I have a chance to try it. I am glad I had an option to not add BBQ sauce to my meal. However once I ate the sandwich as a whole the great flavors of the dry rub was overpowered by the picked onions and strong flavoring from what accompanied my pork belly between my buns. The in house BBQ sauces are good I like having an option of what flavors to add to my meal. I think a traditional BBQ sauce should make an appearance soon I could see how some would want a more traditional BBQ. The meal was filling but also light I will return to work satisfied but not overly full. The price for the BLT was a bit higher than I would have expected. But due to the quick service and wonderful food, the price will not deter me from visiting Big Reds BBQ in the...
Read moreI think the new owners have done a fabulous job, not only revamping the menu which is much more flavorful and delicious than when we visited the establishment last year under prior ownership, we were pleasantly surprised! The other thing they changed was the days/hours of operation and that was a reason we only visited the previous year only twice because the hours/days were very inconvenient. They also provide free ice tea for guests which I think is very nice touch. We like that they are now open on the weekends and we go often,i would say we’ve been there about 5 -6 times in the last month and a half since we discovered they are under new owners and what a delight it has been to find a place that serves good food and extremely large portions in Oroville,we always take home leftovers! The desserts are homemade, not bought premade by a restaurant supplier, and the salted caramel apple pie they made at thanksgiving was so good we came back for another piece that week! It’s seems that when we have been there the owners have been couples (I think there are few who own it together)who work together so they seem very caring about the customers and are very helpful with I asked for anything, or will give suggestions when I ask questions about the menu. I find the atmosphere pleasant, all around a very...
Read moreI was so disappointed with our food today. And I say today because I’ve eaten at Big Red’s BBQ many times since they’ve opened a few years ago. I even had them cater my late Husband’s memorial. It has always been great and the bbq sauce was so yummy and unique. The bbq sauce now taste watered down. The Pulled pork today was very oily, not bad texture but some really burnt crunchy bits. The creamy mac and cheese had a gritty texture and not very “creamy.” The biggest disappointment was the “elote street corn” because it was off the Cobb and extremely underdone. It was almost inedible, I mean it was very firm and quite disgusting. The flavor was nothing like street corn. Taste like they threw some mayonnaise in it. My boyfriend went to pick up our food as we called, in our bill totaled about $60 for a 2 meat plate, a cheeseburger, 2 sides of fries because your burger does NOT come with fries and 1 soda. He asked for more bbq sauce because the tubs were out and they brought him 1 little serving size. He then asked for more and they brought him 1 more container. I feel like you shouldn’t skimp people on BBQ sauce at an BBQ restaurant. Unfortunately I will not be going back and do not...
