A MUST READ (honest) REVIEW FROM AN ALABAMA GIRL TRAVELING HERE FOR HER FIRST TIME !!! (Not even exaggerating) if you pay attention to detail and care about your experience then please do consider The Holiday Inn in Oroville. Booked a King size bedroom and Everything about the room was very nice, a good clean modern look.
Google gives you a good variety of places to stay at for your budget BUT I was very pleased to have made such a great decision in booking here for the weekend.
FIRST OFF, WHO DOESNT LOVE BREAKFAST IN THE MORNING?! Buffet style, I mean they give you so many options, healthy and delicious, I’m a girl that loves to eat and I went more than once! Can’t go wrong there.
THE STAFF.. you guys, let me just say.. they were so patient, thoughtful, and genuine. PERSONALLY, if I was the general manager I’d be very proud and thankful to have such a great staff. Everything was excellent.
Skip , the front desk clerk, was so helpful and welcoming, even when I was speaking on the phone with him before we even got there! Mid way through the process we were under a bit of stress because we had some difficulties with our payment not going through because we were from out of town but he stayed positive (let me remind you, it was almost midnight when all of this was going on) and reassured us that we were going to get a room no matter what. Informed us of all the possibilities step by step helping us sort our issue. I really appreciated that, especially after our long flight and day. THE NEXT MORNING.. I followed up with Heather, another front desk clerk, to complete and finalize our stay and payments and again she was very kind and helpful.
Everything was last minute, even getting a room. All of my relatives were in a similar situation because we were all trying to book the same place. It was a bit higher than usual but me being a cheap girl I could be wrong. It was worth it! Also I’m pretty sure that if I did a bit better in planning and booked ahead of time.. I could’ve gotten a way better deal price-wise.
IN ALL.. my experience is great, I’m still here and I’m comfortable with my stay here. I had to share my thoughts so far!
THANK YOU AGAIN, much love, I will be...
Read moreLight sleepers look elsewhere: this is a quality of sleep review. If you're unlucky enough to have a room that faces the main road, then you can and will hear road traffic. Usually, one could try to drown out any noise by keeping the in room fan on, but that's not the case at this hotel. Their thermostats only seem to cool the room down to the set temp and then turning the whole unit off. This transition is jarring because not only are you able hear the unit switch off, but now you're back to road noise. The owners of this hotel purchased a thermostat that is specifically designed to keep guests from enabling just the fan to stay on. I ended up buying a fan app to try and mask the car noise among things. Now, this next portion of my review may or may not reflect other guests stay, but continue reading you'd like to preview of other possible sleep deterrents. This hotel is dog friendly which normally does not bother me, but I had the misfortune of being next to a yappy dog that was barking for a half hour after 9pm. Other things that this particular hotel seems to turn a blind eye to is walking from room to room with solo cups filled booze. To be clear, I don't have any problem with people enjoying a alcoholic beverage, but when you're having loud connections and loitering in the hall way and letting doors slam under their own weight after 9 then I have a problem with hotel staff not addressing those issues. I will not return to this hotel...
Read moreVery clean property and very clean and spacious rooms. The Front Desk staff are wonderful - the woman who was working the Front Desk the morning of July 5th was one of the nicest individuals I've met in the hotel service industry. She was multi-tasking and running the show by herself yet was there very every guest equally and was extremely polite and friendly.
The mattress was tough and it really was hard on our backs. We liked that there were two types of pillows to choose from, which was more than I would expect from this type of property.
Housekeeping staff were not very pleasant and did not do a great job at cleaning our room. Our request for fresh towels and linens were ignored and they did not clear any garbage from our room. When asked about it the housekeeper was very rude and abrupt with me, which I did not appreciate at all.
Decent breakfast with lots of hot and cold options.
For what is in Oroville, this is your best option - every other property looked like a dump. We were in town visiting in-laws for the 4th and were thankful there was somewhere clean and comfortable to stay in (despite the mattress issues).
The front desk staff and cleanliness are the highlight of this property. Rooms are a bit overpriced but it was a holiday weekend ($99/night seems to be a more reasonable for this type...
