Went to Pappos on Sun Aug 6th at 9 PM. Not crowded & my friend and I decided to sit at the bar. The bartender was a heavyset young blonde who had all of her large bar mats sitting on the left side of the bar so we decided to sit on the right side even though there wete a bunch of rail mats that had been washed & were sitting in front of us. We sat down & the bartender gave us menus & we ordered 2 beers. She didn't move the mats & went to get our beers. I thought she should have cleaned up the bar but I moved the rail mats over a few feet. She served our beers & went to ring them up. She had no other customers or servers to wait on. As she passed by on her way to chat with a couple employees sitting at the end of the bar by the windows I asked her if she could wipe all of the water on the bar. I would habe done it even though it was her job but the rag was soaked. She said to use the towel in the rail. I said it was soaked. She squeezed it & realized that would not work and took her bar towel out of her pocket & threw it up a couple feet in the air landing on the bar in front of us on her way to talk to her coworkers. We said nothing but as she returned a few minutes later I said that I thought we were doing her job. She said we should have sat somewhere else. She claimed she was busy because we were not the only people she was waiting on. That was not true. She did nothing else in the ten minutes we were there. I said that there weren't any place to sit that wasn't wet. My friend said let's go & I didn't even touch the drink she served. She was obviously upset that we were sitting there & was getting ready to close up despite the fact that kitchen was open for another hour!. I have never seen a bartender so rude. On top of that one of her coworkers a young heavy set brunette who had the nerve to follow us on the parking lot to chastise us. She admitted her conduct was wrong but claimed she was a good employee. We said we would never come back anyway. Her reply was that Pappos was ranked #1. That may be true but I said that won't be the case much longer. We went next door to Wobbly Boots which had over 70 people inside. Pappos had less than 15. I own a home at the lake. I have been there many times but not anymore & I intend to let the 'locals' know about your employees. Once the tourist are gone you may notice a drop in business. Not sure if a manager was aware of this incident but your bartender needs to be asigned a job not dealing with customers....
Read moreWow, we have been ordering to go through Pappo's since they first opened and have always loved their food. Still do however this evening I was completely disappointed by the staff. I called in like usual to place an order. It took 5 times to get an answer so I just figured they were really busy. The girl answers the phone and I hear a few voices in the background. Surprised, she asks me to hold on a moment. Well a moment meant 10 minutes. Or longer. Except I have driven to the restaurant and I am standing at the bar now. Trying to make an order to go. Never once was I acknowledged by any of the 5 employees working including the bartender who has not so much as glanced my direction to say I will be right with you. She was washing bar glasses and I notice the cordless phone in her back pocket. So finally one of the servers walks my way and I ask to place a to go order and they point me to the bartender, who still has me on hold in her back pocket for 15 minutes at this point. I asked for the manager and they said it was her and I explained I had been trying to get an order placed and asked the bartender who has had me on hold for so long. There was maybe 5 people at the bar, 2 tables and 5 people on the floor. I'm trying to figure out if I should even place an order after the girl tells me she is the one who put me on hold while she did dishes. Finally I place my order and I'm getting it. I notice that she didn't include my salad which I had to convince her it was not in the pizza boxes. No to go silverware. We love eating Pappo's and have spent a lot of money there. But I'm not sure if we will anymore. I have never been so irritated in my life. I have been in the service industry as a bartender and server for 17 years now. I am a very patient and understanding person but there was absolutely NO REASON for the problems I had this evening. So disappointing. The food was excellent of course. That's why they are...
Read moreI went to the Osage Beach location and ordered the Vegan on the gluten free crust. For the 1st time my 10" pizza was bigger than my parents 8"!AMAZING service! DELICIOUS food! Seriously the best gluten free and dairy free pizza since leaving the Twin Cities. WAY better than Minsky's Pizza, which is what I have to settle for in KCMO since I have Celiac and need my food prepared in a dedicated space. The crust was nice and thin. I could chew it easily, which is good since I have difficulty swallowing. The cheese actually melted, it didn't fall off along with the toppings like it does at Minsky's. The dairy free cheese tasted much better than the Dayia cheese that Minsky's uses too. I am excited to learn that there is a location in Lee's Summit. I will definitely be visiting you again. For once I don't even mind that my pizza has an upcharge for being gluten and dairy free. I always feel like I am being punished for having Celiac Disease and a dairy allergy, even though I know that food costs more. But since the food was so good I feel it is well deserved. Thank you so much for making a great pizza that looks and tastes like a regular pizza. I don't feel left out. My dad, who NEVER eats vegan and rarely eats gluten free without complaining helped me finish my pizza and didn't say a negative word. The parking lot is not very wheelchair accessible but I don't really know what, if anything could be done about it except maybe making the rear entrance wheelchair accessible if possible. If not, making the front entrance a zero threshold entry would be very helpful for wheelchair users and anyone with a mobility disability and seniors and can prevent customers...
