Took 15 mins before we were asked what we wanted to drink. To start the cheap paper towel is joke. Should be cloth! The bread they bring you has two little packs of cheap margarine. Butter should creamy and in a dish. I ordered the trout and it was awful. It was like it was boiled in a cheap margarine probably from the little packs they supply with the bread, fish didn’t have any Sauté marks or browning and was mushy. It reminded me of something you would eat in a hospital. All the trout I ever had was seared in a pan with butter, seasoning and a nice garnish, fingerling potatoes were flavorless with no seasoning. Also had a soup and the beef soup tasted like when the soup sits in a pan without being stirred and it gets that burnt taste. I even read the reviews and was looking forward to a good dish in Wisconsin on my first ever visit. My family and I didn’t have one good meal in Wisconsin. Disappointing to say the least. I’m not saying this restaurant doesn’t make good food I’m saying the dishes I had weren’t good. The cook might need a few lessons on how to cook trout and they need to work on presentation with...
Read moreUnfortunately we had a very unusual and disappointing experience tonight despite being regulars. We arrived just before 7pm on a Tuesday night (party of 5 plus 2 newborns) and we quickly got a table and noticed the restaurant was very crowded. That should have been the first warning sign. It was obvious Several tables of 8+ people must have clogged up the ticketing system. We ordered appetizers approximately 7:10 and entrees around 7:20. Our appetizers finally arrived by 8pm and at 8:10 we were notified that one of our entrees we ordered almost an hour ago wasn’t available. It was obvious our order wasn’t put in for 50 minutes. We have two newborns with us that are on a schedule and we unfortunately had to cancel our entrees. Also our salads took about 45 min to come out. Where were the managers tonight? I couldn’t believe the delay wasn’t acknowledged and that our orders took close to an hour to get to the chefs. The server comped our appetizers, but what gives? What...
Read moreDelicious. This restaurants is fresh and open and has fun with food and drink. We have visited for several years and never been disappointed. This visit, we ordered the Classic Bruschetta for an app. Light, flavorful, and a perfect start to the meal - not too heavy, but a good accompaniment for cocktails. These choices were Rhubarb in the Rye Old Fashioned, Acai Tequila cocktail, and Negroni - all were excellently balanced, with intriguing notes, and thoughtful presentation. Dinner selections were Turbot Provençale and Blackened Haddock - both dishes were well executed. The Turbot was nicely seared with a bright, savory lemon cream and good saline hit with an olive/caper sprinkle. The Haddock was moist with distinctive file gumbo notes that are often missing from "Creole/Cajun" dishes. The service is always friendly and well paced. We will continue to treat ourselves to Gardina's whenever...
