I recently dined at Abelardo’s, a fantastic Mexican restaurant, and it truly exceeded my expectations. The food was bursting with authentic flavors, from the perfectly seasoned tacos to the rich and flavorful enchiladas. Every bite was a celebration of fresh ingredients, spices, and traditional cooking methods that brought the essence of Mexican cuisine to life. The homemade guacamole and salsa were particularly standout items, adding a fresh and vibrant touch to the meal.
What also impressed me was the variety on the menu. Whether you’re a fan of classic dishes like burritos and quesadillas or looking for something more adventurous, there’s something for everyone. The portions were generous, and the presentation made the dishes even more inviting.
The service was warm and friendly, with staff that made sure we felt right at home. They were knowledgeable about the menu and eager to offer recommendations. The ambiance of the restaurant was lively and colorful, giving off an authentic and vibrant vibe that really enhanced the experience.
Overall, if you’re in the mood for delicious, authentic Mexican food served in a welcoming and festive environment ,Abelardo’s is definitely worth a visit. I can’t wait to return and explore more...
Read moreThe workers are all kind and polite, and I apologize to them for this review. They are the reason it's a 2 instead of a 1.
The food... is horrible. Everything is bland and spiceless. The large portions do not make up for it. The salsas they take so much pride in are incredibly basic.
If you must eat here, get the chicken. The "pollo asado" was cooked well, it just lacks seasoning and isn't pollo asado. The beef was downright offensive.
You're better off going to any other nearby mexican place. El Gallo, Tortilla Ranch, even Taco Bell excels where Abelardo's falls short. I honestly can't think of a single reason to ever come here again.
(Also this place used to be a Steak n Shake which closed down because it was also terrible. Abelardo's made zero effort towards changing the decor. It still just looks and feels exactly like a steak n shake, except they covered up the steak n shake logos with paper. I did not factor this into my review scores, I just think it's kind...
Read moreI've been to the restaurant twice, once on the Missouri side, once in Kansas . Both times, horrible. In Missouri, I ordered pastor tacos. Didn't taste like any pastor tacos I've ever had anywhere else. They weren't good. Tonight I had the Arizona burrito, which was steak and potatoes. The potatoes weren't cooked all the way through, and the little, and I mean little bit of steak that was in there, was gristle. Not good and it's most abundant ingredient was this shredded cheese that wasn't melted and it was just a big chunk of cheese in every bite. I thought there would be more steak, nope, not even a lot of potatoes, which is probably good because they were undercooked. They should call it the Cheesy gristle burrito, because that's what it was. Not great......
