My Honest Rating: A Disappointing Experience!

​I've been a regular customer at this boba shop for a while and have always had positive things to say. I've recommended it highly to everyone I know, but that all ends today. I was incredibly disappointed with the way I was treated, especially since it came directly from the owner.

​My usual order is the hibiscus tea with either lychee, strawberry, or mango, and I always get 0% sweetness with a half scoop of popping boba. It's the perfect drink, and I get it every single time I visit. But today, the hibiscus tea with lychee tasted off. It had a bitter, spoiled flavor and an awful aftertaste. I knew something was wrong after the first sip, so I tried it again just to be sure.

​I immediately told a worker about the issue, and he brought it to the owner's attention. I thought perhaps there was some coffee residue left in the tea-making equipment since I know hibiscus tea itself isn't bitter. I told the owner that maybe the tea had been over-steeped or brewed for too long. I even asked her to try it herself to see if she could taste the same issue.

​She took the drink to the back, tried it, and came back to tell me it was fine and made the way it usually is. She didn't even address my concern. She just handed the drink back to me, basically telling me to take it as is without apologizing or offering to fix it or make a new one. I was absolutely shocked that she would treat a loyal customer like this.

​I told her it was wrong, and the person I was with tried the drink and could confirm it was off as well. I was so disappointed that she wouldn't fix my drink and showed no remorse for my concern. I know exactly how that drink is supposed to taste, and this wasn't it.

​I refused to drink something I wasn't enjoying, especially after paying nearly $7, which is very steep for a boba tea these days. It was such awful customer service. I don't plan to go back ever again.

​If I could give this zero stars, I would. If you can't handle honest criticism and ensure customer satisfaction, you shouldn't be in the service industry.

If you're a bubble tea lover, you won't want to miss Gocha Shawnee! This newer shop is focused on serving up delicious milk teas, and I was lucky enough to stop in and try one for myself recently. I ordered the taro milk tea, and it did not disappoint!

One thing that really stood out to me was the reusable, recyclable cup that my drink came in. It's great to see a business taking steps to be more eco-friendly. I also appreciated that I could customize my drink to my liking – I was able to choose the sweetness level, and I appreciated the option of being able to go with 0% sweetness.

In addition to their milk teas, Gocha Shawnee also offers a variety of local Asian baked goods and finger foods that are hot and ready to eat. I didn't have a chance to try any of these on my visit, but I definitely plan to go back and give them a try.

The staff at Gocha Shawnee were friendly and welcoming, and the cute décor made for a pleasant atmosphere to enjoy my drink in. Overall, I would definitely recommend this bubble tea shop to anyone in the area. With a good variety on the menu and plenty of customizable options, there's something for everyone here. I came here with my family to try it because it had just opened up and we love boba. However we started having problems before we even finished ordering. The guy behind the register was very nice and accommodating but a woman from the back came and questioned our choices and basically insinuated we didn't know what we were ordering. She even came out with a sample of something after my mom telling her two times she was sure she wanted a certain add in with her drink. Even after all that fuss we get the wrong boba in every single drink. Its like they were trying to prove us wrong because they didn't think we meant what we said. It was very strange, the vibe in there was off. I was also completely missing another add in in my drink which the guy behind the counter corrected.
