Becks Place Overland Park — Restaurant in Overland Park

My husband and I and our youngest daughter came to Becks' place for lunch today after our daughter had a dental appointment in KC. We saw pictures on Google maps, and the pictures of the chicken fried steak was what made us want to go here.

The setting is similar to a bar or kinda a smaller version of Buffalo wild wings. Our waitress was extremely sweet and accommodating! I loved how sweet she was with our daughter. 🥰

I ordered the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and green beans with a biscuit. My husband ordered the friend pork tenderloin sandwich with a side of tatar tots. We ordered grilled cheese for our daughter.

My chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and gravy (I also got extra gravy which they thank goodness gave me on top of my steak and potatoes!) I'm so glad they didn't give me a separate dish for my extra gravy.my chicken fried steak was amazing probably the best I've ever had. The buscuit/bread was so fresh and amazing.

My husband's pork tenderloin sandwich was the best we've ever eaten. It's it was so fresh and flavorful. Seriously, the best. Our daughter loved the grilled cheese she even ate the crust. She had never eaten the crust before today, but she finished her crust today at Becks' place. They know how to cook and treat their customers right. I highly recommend eating here. (Update at bottom)Food is quite good as i have had several dishes from Becks place. But the owner(the male[I ASSUMED and was wrong about the male being a customer) is a religious bigot who will voice his opinion and essentially tell you to shut up by saying, "we aren't having this conversation." Yes, he knows who i am as I made it clear as I left. I will not be back, this world doesn't need places where they will make it free to speak their mind and not let you say your part.

I'll never spend another dime of my money in this place.

I'm one of the top reviewers in kansas City as I enjoy leaving positive reviews based on the entire experience of the place. In fact, you can check my reviews and see that the vast majority of my are intended to be in a positive manner. I do this because we have enough negative people who leave bad reviews.

So, in a nut shell, avoid this place if you prefer places that are accepting of everyone's opinions and a bigot free environment.

If you don't mind this kind of environment, then by all means, enjoy their food.

My partner waited 30 minutes for our to-go food that was supposed to be ready at 6:45. Got our food and it's ice cold, clearly indicating it sat in the kitchen that entire time. Did not get our entire order either. We used to love this place but won't be going back.

Actually, I take that back. Our side sauces are a delightful room temperature.

Editing my review based on the owner's response: I have been in before, you are correct. The last time I was in, it took 20 minutes for me to get my tab after my entire party was finished and ready to leave. I overlooked it because I previously enjoyed frequenting your business. Now, I understand this is simply a common practice, regardless of if your patrons are dining in or taking out.

I'm not sure why me ordering from Uber Eats means my food sits in the kitchen for 30 minutes while my partner was patiently waiting for the food? I'd love an explanation for that as well as some more information as to why you had ample time to ensure our order was correct, which it was not.
