Betty Rae's Ice Cream — Restaurant in Overland Park

What a disappointment. We will not be coming back. The handmade waffle cone was soggy and not even closed on the bottom so the ice cream started leaking out the bottom quickly which my husband was not happy about. I also ordered a vegan vanilla ice cream shake with Oreos. They forgot to add the Oreos so I had to ask to get them added and then they just sprinkled a small amount of Oreos on top, maybe two Oreos worth which I then had to ask for spoon so I could mix it in. You'd think they would say let me mix that in for you but no they handed me a spoon. Because they didn't mix it in the Oreos were two big to even suck up threw a straw so it tasted like a vanilla shake not Oreo like what I ordered. It was overpriced and didn't even taste that good. I had an amazing dairy free Oreos shake from them a couple years ago but they have gone downhill. I could have made a better dairy free ice cream...

I don’t know what kind of wizardry they’re doing behind the counter, but this ice cream shop is dangerously good. Like, “I-came-in-for-a-treat-and-left-with-a-sugar-coma-and-no-regrets” good.

First of all, the flavors? Absolute madness. They’ve got the classics like vanilla and chocolate, sure—but also things like “Cereal Milk” (yes, it tastes like Saturday morning cartoons and poor life choices) and “Goat Cheese, Apricots, & Candied Walnuts,” which made me question everything I thought I knew about dairy.

The staff? Angels. Literal dessert sorcerers with scoops for wands. One of them saw me struggling to decide and just gave me six samples without blinking.

Only downside: I now owe this place about 87 loyalty punches and possibly my soul. Totally worth it. Highly recommend. Bring stretchy pants. And maybe a friend to roll you...

We’re beyond excited that Betty Rae’s has opened a location in Overland Park—this has always been one of the best ice cream spots in the entire Kansas City area! We used to happily make the long drive just to enjoy their incredibly unique and delicious flavors, and now it’s right in our neighborhood.

The variety they offer is amazing—there’s always something new and creative to try, and the best part? You can sample as many as you like before making your choice. The staff is super friendly and patient, and the service is top-notch.
