Culver’s — Restaurant in Overland Park

I have had Culver’s a lot. In fact used to work at Culver’s as a teenager at a different location, so I have pretty high standards. At the same time, I understand it won’t be perfect every time. That is why I have given this location numerous chances to prove me wrong but time after time they have subpar service. The customer service is always terrible. There is one nice person in the drive though and it’s and old guy who doesn’t work often. Most of the time they don’t say hi to you or anything, just tell you the total, and move on. I always have to ask for a receipt because they never get my order right. I have ordered 2 large shakes made the exact same way and have gotten 1 medium and 1 large, I tell them about it and they just add more milk to it and blend it up. Then on top of that, when my husband and I order the exact same shake the next time, one will have lots of flavor and the other one tastes like vanilla only. You have to ask for them to fix it and they get attitudes about it. The food is usually always really hot and I have never had any toppings issues, the only thing I’ve ever been missing is the top bun for a chicken sandwich (not sure how that happened) and numerous times they never have the sauces I ask for.

Culver's is the best! Should we actually call it fast food? I think it is way better than any other fast food chain. When you walk into Culver's you have an option of ordering your meal at the counter while talking to real people or simply sit at a table and order on your phone. Either way, they bring your food to your table. Oh, by the way, they are clean. The tables and floors are not sticky. The place always looks spotless. Every seat is cushioned, no hard plastic seats. They have carpeted floors in the dining room and plenty of TVs for your entertainment. The noise level is extremely low. The booths are very spacious and each dining table or booth seams private.

I came for the delicious burgers loaded with all the typical burger toppings or you can customize your burger with anything that makes you happy. The burgers were great. The fries are way better than the typical fast food skinny fries. The custard concrete desserts are the best. Actually, we just bought a pint of custard from the carry out freezer and shared in between the two of us. Buy it with your food and it will be soft enough to eat when you finish your food.

They deserve more than 5 stars. Great...

If you're not from the upper Midwest you may not have ever been to a Culver's. We have that and Freddy's as our special chains. They have some similarity and that they both have kind of a mom and pop homespun fuel to them. They both offer custard based desserts and burgers that are more fresh then a Burger King type experience. Overall Culver's has a better Chick-fil-A style staff culture where everyone is positive and helpful all the time. Culver's also has their special root beer which my kids always loved growing up and their tea is excellent. The cod sandwich is a special thing they have much better than a generic fish sandwich and they have a chicken sandwich which is okay I usually get the Culver's deluxe but you can get it made to order if you want. This particular culver's stays pretty busy all the time but they do a good job at getting traffic in and out. Overall I highly recommend. I'll usually drive past several other places...
