Vegan Reporter, here. I rate restaurants based on typical expectations of the type of business I'm eating.
Jasmine Garden seems pretty vegan-aware. They offer several vegan selections, and I mostly like what I've had. General Tso's (protein of your choice) is pretty popular in this area, but I'd never seen General Tso's tofu on a menu before seeing it at JG. I liked it, but would have preferred more vegetables. There were about 4 small pieces of broccoli on the plate. In lieu of the kitchen adding more vegetables, you could order one protein entree, and one vegetable entree (e.g. green beans, or eggplant,) but that would probably mean having a dining partner who shares your dietary choices.
Speaking of the eggplant, it is also very good, but a plate of eggplant, covered with sauce, and no other ingredients, seems a little stark.
The tofu with black bean sauce is very good, as well, and is an entree with a nice combination of protein, and mixed vegetables.
Last night, I had vegetable ho fun. Ho fun is a flat, wide, rice noodle. There was no shortage of veggies in this dish.
It seems a little challenging to get a spicy entree, here. Many Chinese restaurants have menu notes indicating that certain dishes are spicy. My experience is that most of these dishes have almost a total lack of spiciness. JG is no different. I don't recall which was which, but the "spicy" dishes aren't very spicy, to me. I prefer my food somewhat on the spicy side (speaking of heat,) but I'm not someone who sits around eating raw ghost peppers. So, when I say that a dish I ate isn't spicy, I'd guess that most people would agree. Anyway, I've also used the chili oil they serve on request. I don't know where they get their dried chilis, but even the oil seems to lack any real heat.
Accounting for the couple of shortcomings I've mentioned, I very much recommend Jasmine Garden. Brown rice is available, which, for me, is always a plus, and not all that common in Chinese restaurants. The service is good, and they keep the place (bathroom included) clean. The prices...
Read moreOrdered delivery. Delivery driver was nice. Food was ok. Fried rice was a little bland. But my main complaint is your tipping system. I have had 2 charges on my account for the last 5 days. Hopefully it goes away soon. Ordered 17 dollar meal. When delivered gave a tip. Not knowing then that instead of charging my card for the tip they recharged my card for the whole amount plus the tip. Then I received an email saying " we are charging your card an extra 2 dollars for the tip. It will show two transactions. Depending on your bank could take 3 to 5 days for the charge to be removed".... please figure out a better system for charging the tip. Especially since you know this is a problem from the email. It really makes me mad for trying to do a nice thing and tip. Then have to deal with extra charges on my account I didn't know I would have when giving the tip...at least be upfront with people who tip. Or deal with the higher merchant fee on a small 2 dollar transaction instead of putting the inconvenience on...
Read moreI’ve been to this place several times and they never disappoint!! Last night I ordered food shrimp and broccoli with a side of fried rice and the rice was hard as ever and I had just got off work from Avery long day. The only reason I am writing this review this way is because everything is so expensive and at the times we are currently living these places need to hand their customers and food with love and care! Because people are spending their hard earned money to keep you in business. I called and spoke with the person on the line and he did apologize even though I don’t take compensation for messed up orders to offer a remake would of been the best thing to offer to the customer so that we can continue to patronize your establishment. Not only that when we do door dash it is double the price with delivery! Please don’t allow any business to serve you inedible food! Love and light💫 I will not order from here again! I am learning to make my...
