I was thoroughly disappointed by this experience. I was craving Mexican food and didn’t want to travel far from home. I checked this place’s reviews and decided to give it a try.

I almost didn’t even walk in because the place is so dirty, dingy, and dark that you even tell they are open for business from the parking lot. I half expected to tug on the door and find it locked.

But, when I did walk in, I was disappointed to find not a single person on staff from Hispanic descent. Clue #2 I should have known to leave. How can you expect to do Mexican Food well when you don’t have anyone from that culture on staff?

When I went to the counter to order, I asked the the girl behind the register to tell me what was in one of the dishes, and she had to search for a worn out copy of the paper menu (seemingly the only one they have) to read the description to me. When I did finally order I went with the enchilada platter which came with a ā€œsaladā€ and beans. The salad was a joke, just a handful of shredded lettuce with hot sauce drizzled on and half a tomato slice thrown on top. The only smidge of flavor on the entire plate was the copious amounts of black pepper invading the chicken in my enchiladas, which were otherwise very dry. Even the minimal amount of cheese on top could do nothing to offset the fact that the enchiladas were tasteless, and nearly hollow inside. The chips were soft, and the beans were bland. All in all, this was a vastly disappointing experience.

The icing on the cake is that one of the staff walked around the dining floor stopping at tables to collect serving trays, walking by several diners, and didn’t say a single word to any of us. Not once did he ask anyone if they were enjoying their meal, likely because he knows how terrible it is and doesn’t want to invite complaints. I will definitely not be...

I go there often after church on Sunday with my daughter and 2 grandchildren. Usually there's some sort of football game on. There wasn't this week so I asked them if they could change the channel. I actually got the deer in the headlight look from this young lady. So about 10 minutes later after I got my food I asked them again could they change the channel and got no response. So I asked some kid that was walking around looking like he had nothing to do so I asked him if he could change the channel and he made the comment that the Chiefs were not on till 3:00. I said I'm very much aware of that I just asked if they can turn the channel from what it was on. All three TVs were on the same thing and it was some sort of a talk show. I understand they was a little busy but if the cook had time to come out to the soda fountain and get her co-workers sodas they had time to flip the channel for a customer. I just seems like this place is going downhill just a tad as far as customer satisfaction. Finally after 20 minutes the channel was changed and we left 5 minutes later unfortunately. Now with that said has anybody noticed The difference in the shells they're...

I used to love this place. From KCK to overland Park they were always so good. Not today! I put an order in online and it cost 95.00. I said I would pick up at 2:00 pm and it was 12:30 when I placed the order. I get there at 1:58 and they hadn't started on it, they actually acted like they hadn't even seen it yet. I then had to sit for 20 mins and wait while they did everyone else's food around me. I get home and the taco shells were stale, no crunch at all and they were cold. Nothing was warm. The lettuce tasted and looked like it was bad and had been sitting out. The only thing still good was their hot sauce. I have never not liked their food but this was for 5 of us and all of us threw 90% of our food away it was so bad. The staff did not seem to want to interact with anyone and it just seemed like everyone in the restaurant was scared to talk. I have never seen it so quiet there. I added a tip when I placed the order and I wish I hadn't because unfortunately they did not deserve it. I was so disappointed. We would have been happier with taco bell and...

Taco Via has very normal Mexican fast food, but it is far more beloved by native Kansas Citians than any other fast food place in the city. People not from here may not "get it" but most of us grew up eating this and the exceptionally normal taco sauce has a magical hold on some citizens. Like tomato-based crack. Everyone has a certain thing they like best, but simple tacos and the nacho (small round crispy corn tortillas with melted cheese, diced peppers and crack sauce) are favorites. I love the sancho (soft flour tortilla filled with beef, lettuce, tomato and cheese ... and crack sauce). If you go with a "fan" of The Via, just tell them it's good whether you like it or not to save yourself the lecture. And for God's sake ... do NOT compare it to Taco Bell. You might get left behind.

I have been eating at Taco Via for over 20 years. I remember eating there when I was a kid. One of my favorite things to eat there is a sancho. It’s always been my favorite. The nacho is really good here too. This location serves cherry limeades which is really good. I highly recommend this location because the food is good and the service is good most of the time. If you have never been here you should definitely try it.
