Update 4/8/24: Continuing to give this restaurant a chance and had yet another disappointing experience. Again, my husband and I ordered Beef Nachos and an El Patron.

When we arrived to pick it up there were customers looking over a menu. I asked the young lady if I could grab my order while they were deciding what they wanted for dinner and she refused so I had to wait for over 10 minutes while they decided and then ordered.

To add insult to injury when I got home my order was incorrect - yet again. Instead of nachos I got quesadillas and my husband's steak and shrimp for the El Patron were both cooked incorrectly. The steak looked old and reheated, grossly over cooked and the bacon on his shrimp was almost raw while the shrimp were also over done and rubbery.

I took pictures of my food but didn't get them of my husband's dish because he was so mad he slammed it in the trash before I could.

When I contacted the restaurant Alec, one of the managers tried to chastise me for coming to get my order close to closing time (I'd ordered an hour and a half before closing). He acknowledged that quality and accuracy slips during that time of day. I explained to him that when the doors are open quality and accuracy should be a consistent focus. He refused to replace or refund the order in it's entirety, stating that if I'd called the night before he would've simply reversed the transaction. By the time I got home and realized the inaccuracies of our order the restaurant was closed.

I called the next day at opening time which was the soonest I could reach someone. When I asked him to reverse the transaction the day I spoke with him, he refused. Please see the photos - does this look like an order of nachos to you?!? In addition, Alec was very rude and hung up in my face ending our phone conversation.

Needless to say, we won't be returning. We've brought people to this restaurant, recommended it to many who have become customers and we've celebrated special occasions here. We've been regulars for a long time but after the treatment we've received I'll pass on this place moving forward and can no longer recommend them as a "go to" spot.

Original review: My husband and I have been coming to this restaurant for quite some time. Initially, it was impeccable from the atmosphere, to the service and especially the food. We've been frequent visitors.

Recently, we've noticed that the quality of the service and food are declining. For example: we ordered two El Patron entrees, chips and salsa 🍅 and cheese 🧀 dip with beef. I had to walk the young lady through the order asking her the total, what time would it be ready and what number I used when coming to pick up. My son and his girlfriend got nachos and tacos 🌮.

Upon arrival the staff wasn't overly friendly and didn't thank us for our business. That always puts me off when patronizing a business. Upon getting home to enjoy our food we realized our cheese dip was very runny (not the usual texture), there were absolutely no bacon wrapped shrimp in our entrées (which are the stars of the show) and the steak especially mine was very over cooked (usually a medium well but was over well done). Needless to say we were very disappointed and contacted the restaurant promptly. I felt they should've replaced the entire meal for us both but there was no offer to do so.

I have really enjoyed this restaurant over the years and hope this review will call their attention to some much needed improvements regarding quality of food and service, as well as, improving the accuracy of filling their orders. I'll be willing to update this review if that occurs....

Kmachos is a a popular restaurant. People love it. But let’s address integrity. I use K Machos about every 4 to 6 weeks for business lunches. They run about 15 minutes late every single time. I can adapt to that. I just give myself extra time. But today I had an experience that will result in the end of my relationship KMachos. Today I arrived early and was asked to wait about 10 minutes. 15 minutes after the requested time, like clockwork, The meal I was picking up was placed on the counter. The chips, the lettuce, tomato cheese and other items were placed in bags that were double bagged. The taco shells we replaced in half sheet pan sized foil pans with foil lids. These items were not very heavy and clearly didn’t require such substantial packaging. But, all of my hot foods were put in one single bag, not double bagged, The lids were not secure and they were leaking. I happen to have some boxes on my seat that I use regularly for promotional items and they were empty. I put the bagged food in those boxes. One of the boxes was a wooden crate with slats. I put the hot food in that Crate not making notice of the fact that it wasn’t double bagged. When I reached my destination, I removed the light items from my box and carried them inside. I returned to my car to get the hot items And when I lifted it, the bag broke open. The contents fell all over the inside of my car. The nacho cheese about $29 for a quart broke open inside the bag. The meat, the beans, and the rice fell through the slats and onto my seat. After making other arrangements, I attended the lunch, returned to my car and called KMachos. The Young woman who helped carry things to my car, saw that I’d placed them in the boxes and reported that to the management. The management then questioned how if I’d put food in boxes it could’ve spilled out into my car. When I tried to explain, they spoke over me, and I was connected with a manager. After I explained to the manager what had happened and request requested that my $174 plus tip was refunded to my card he refused. He said it was my responsibility after I left the restaurant. I have a lot of respect for food service workers. I have a lot of respect for Hispanic food servers workers who speak English as a second language. I only speak one language well. I am extremely respectful in both instances. However, when I pay for a service and then cannot use the item as expected, and then have my honesty questioned, I have to begin to question the integrity behind the business transaction. In this case, there was none. I will not return to K machos personally , nor will I use them for business. Kmachos doesn’t care about this interaction because they have plenty of customers to replace me. I feel strongly, however, About things like a restaurants responsibility to provide what a customer has paid for . I hope you’ll think twice about...

Ok we decided we wanted Mexican for dinner and we like Baskin Robins ice cream so we drove to 119th & Metcalf and got on Google maps to find a well reviewed restaurant. We see K-Macho’s right across the street, good reviews let give it a shot.

First of it was right around 7:10 pm and I expected a wait which was around 10-15 minutes. We got in to our table and immediately we both noticed chips and salsa are already on the table! I didn’t care for that especially in the times right now with Covid and who knew how long they had sat there. So we sit and wait and about 15 minutes after sitting down and staring at a basket of chips and 2 bowls of salsa our waitress arrived to take our drink order. I think they should bring the chips and salsa when they bring you your drink, since we had never been there I didn’t know how spicy the salsa was and I didn’t want to take a chance. My wife did however and it was way to spicy and she had to wait about 5 minutes to to get a drink. Our waitress was very nice and she made some great recommendations. It just took forever to get anything. I thought it was weird that it took less time to get our food than it took to get our original drink order!

I ordered the Acapulco Skillet it comes with Tilapia, 3 pieces of shrimp, 3 strips of chicken and 3 strips of steak. All for $17.99. I thought great I should get a lot of food. I don’t think the price I paid for the meal was worth it! I understand why it cost so much I just don’t think I will get it again. My wife ordered the Delicioso Platter it came with a ground beef crispy taco, cheese and onion enchilada and a pork tamale! She really liked everything but the tamale it was a little different than what we’re used to but I liked it. We ordered a side of chorizo and it came out of the kitchen cold so we sent it back and I think they got confused that we didn’t like it because they brought out an order of smoked sausage which was good but it wasn’t chorizo! At the end of the meal we saw a few drinks that were interesting, one was horchata and the waitress brought us a small sample. I thought it was good but very sweet.

All in all the waiting forever for first contact by our waitress and the spicy salsa (they should make a milder version) it was a good experience. I almost forgot we ordered guacamole it was $6.99 and we got 5 scoops on a bed of shredded lettuce! The guacamole was good but I felt cheated because of the lettuce it was just a filler and I have never seen anything like it. We will try it again and learn from our mistakes hopefully next time will be...

We will try it again and learn from our mistakes hopefully next time will be a five star!
