Las Palomas — Restaurant in Overland Park

We are here for our second time. Our first was very shortly after they opened, we stopped in to order carry out before they had online ordering. I enjoyed a happy hour house margarita (on the rocks, no salt, delicious) while we waited for our food and the staff was so friendly! I don't remember what we ordered (probably fajitas) and it was great! This time, months later, we opted to dine in. I again tried the house margarita and loved it! The chile verde is amazing and the carne asada street tacos are perfection. We got the standard chips and salsa, which are nice. The chips are sturdy but airy and light and the regular salsa is good. I asked if they had a hotter salsa and they brought me a bowl which is dark red, has a wonderful depth of flavor and is nicely spicy, but not too spicy. They have a good mix of tex-mex items and more authentic Mexican fare. They do the authentic fare better than the tex-mex, but it is all good! The space (formerly Wyandotte BBQ 2) is clean and roomy. There is a good combination of tables and booths and the bar area is small but comfy and, again, the staff is so friendly! I highly recommend...

I had been reading lots of reviews from people on a bunch of restaurants and settled at Las Palomas. The chips and salsa were good. Other than that, I was pretty disappointed. I was hoping for something a little more authentic. I ordered the Las Palomas Burrito, and it was straight up a cheese covered tortilla stuffed with ground beef. There was a little bit of pico, guac, and sour cream on the side, but not much. Perhaps I should’ve ordered fajitas instead. The place was almost empty, but the server didn’t come over once after I received my meal to check on me. Overall, pretty meh. I prefer Manny’s.

EDIT: it turns out there was a little bit of beans in the burrito, but I couldn’t tell for awhile because it was definitely not...

MUST EAT HERE!! We stopped in for dinner and a whim. It was new and we were hungry. We were greeted immediately and we were taken back to our table. Chips and salsa are so good! Thick chips and perfect salsa. We also ordered spinach and cheese dip which was also so perfect. I ordered their house margarita which was everything I wanted it to be.! I ordered the flautas. It came with rice and beans. Truly they were the best beans and rice! Everything I ate was so flavorful. I swear I meant to take a picture but I just kept eating and forgot. Service was top notch. Everyone that helped us was so friendly and genuine. The only downside to this restaurant is, it's not near my house. 😉 Maybe that's a good thing 😄😜 Highly...
