My husband and I had never tried this place and were in the area so we thought we'd give it a shot.
When we arrived, the hostess didn't even look up from the desk for two minutes and when she finally did, she had a look of annoyance on her face. We were seated and menus were practically dropped in front of us.
We then waited almost 10 minutes before a presumed manager walked by and asked if we'd been taken care of yet. We said no and he went to the front and said something. A few minutes later, a waitress finally arrived, apologized, and took our drink order, which we ordered water and were ready to order food but she rushed off before we could.
5 minutes later, we received our waters with more apologies. We ordered our food at this time.
I feel it worth mentioning that there were no fewer than FIVE servers that passed our table before the manager finally had to say something to get us a server.
We received our food (I had the cheeseburger with sweet potato fries and husband had the BBQ pulled pork sandwich with mac and cheese and we shared an order of their jalepeno cheese grits) and most of it was beyond fantastic!! My burger was overcooked and unseasoned, and I couldn't get anyone to come by to ask for a condiment, but everything else was delicious. We had seen the bread pudding on the menu and had planned on sharing that for dessert, so I left half of my burger so I had room.
We then waited almost 20 minutes, at which point my husband got up and went to the hostess stand and asked for our check. It took another 10 minutes to get it. We were considering just dropping cash on the table and leaving, but we didn't have enough cash to cover everything and the tip (yes we still tipped because we're not monsters), so we opted to wait.
Atmosphere - the restaurant has a nice feel, the booths feel nice and private with their high walls. Unfortunately, we were seated in a booth close to table that decided they would share whatever they were watching/listening to with the WHOLE restaurant. So there was loud and overpowering music coming from their table.
We had just come from a very relaxing experience at Salinity Salt and Floatation Center where we felt rejuvenated. Sadly, this experience erased all of that and left us tense and frustrated.
It really is a pity that the service was so terrible because the food was really very good. Typically I would have spoken to a manager about it because from the time we walked in we felt like an annoyance to the staff, but we were so upset we needed to get out of there ASAP and if the service and timing was any indication, it would have been longer than we wanted to wait to see a manager.
ETA 3.21.2024 - we did receive the refund as promised in the owner's response. We sent our information as requested to the email address provided but never heard...
Read moreNEVER going back to this location! What started as a pleasant experience for my birthday quickly turned sour. Our waiter was in/out and dismissive. Whenever we were ready to make a request he was missing and once he showed up, you'd better talk fast because he took a single request and vanished before you blinked. Whenever he was near, don't look down because that was his queau to jump ship! His expedient service was tolerated and not that big a deal BUT the straw that broke the camel's back was when he returned and put my party out! Said we'd been seated too long and figured our 4:30pm reservation would've wrapped up well before 6pm. I had a party of five. When I made the reservation over the phone, I was never informed of an occupancy time limit. When I arrived, I was never told, reservations are for X amount of time. We were still eating, drinking and ordering at 6pm. We were actually waiting for our waiter to return so we could request a menu to place to go orders but at approximately 6:26pm we were told to get out, "you ain't got to go home but" you know the rest... We weren't offered the option to relocate tables, we weren't asked whether anything further was needed, we were just greeted with a grin and the words, "I hate to be that guy but we've got an EXCLUSIVE reservation at 630 and need this room." If they knew that to be the case, they should've told us at/around the time before we ordered deserts so we could be prepared to stay/go/move or whatever. We should have been offered an option instead of being rushed out. Telling me "Happy Birthday" as I exited did not make up for the way this "GTFO" of our restaurant was handled. Granted, the food was decent, but the service was overall less than mediocre once the benefit of the doubt was dropped following the "please leave now" encounter. This location won't get anymore of...
Read moreWe’ve always had great service here and the staff is incredibly professional. This most recent visit we unfortunately had to witness an angry woman scream atand put her finger in the face of the hostess because she missed the multiple attempts from the hostess to contact her that her table was ready. She demanded to speak with a manager which the hostess said okay. Then she demanded the hostess should’ve “came to find her” as if checking your phone while waiting for a notification is that hard and being entitled to needing to be tracked down. She then chose to seat herself at the table we’d booked our reservation for and refuse to get up so we unfortunately were bumped to another table after a brief wait. This was no problem for us but the woman made a new story to tell the manager. We noticed the manager talking with the hostess about it and she clearly was upset as it appeared she was being told she was wrong for not bowing to this woman’s rude and unwarranted demands. We spoke to the manager that we witnessed the entire incident and that the woman was entirely out of line. I’m writing this review to applaud the professionalism and decorum this hostess maintained while dealing with an entitled patron who decided to embarrass herself that evening. I’d be embarrassed to have behaved or be associated with anyone who behaved that way.
The managers should be proud of how their staff responded in this moment and in the future be sure to support the staff when being treated so terribly. It’s uncalled for to be screaming, threatening and putting your finger in the face of anyone but specifically a teenager simply trying to do her job. You should definitely try this place out and treat the staff with decency and respect as they’re...
