Still here, we will omit the room number for that reason (third/top floor, just off the stairs). I would say the other reviews are accurate, and if this wasn't the only hotel available at this time, we wouldn't be here. The parking lot is as described - watch your speed, avoid the massive potholes. The lobby is nice enough. As you walk in there is a faint smell of ashtray - this was certainly once a smoking hotel, not now. Once we had our room we headed to it, the higher you get in floors, the more pungent the curry and tumeric smell gets. We headed to our room and upon opening the door, we're meet with a very strong old-cigarette smell - the walls and carpet reek of it. The door to the room looks as if someone used bleach on it and it removed some of the finish (many of the doors are like this), tag on the door is very old and worn. There is a decent LCD TV, microwave and college-size refrigerator, unexpected benefit. The WiFi is actually fast enough to watch HD videos and it supports VPNs, in case you are working here. The bed is a normal hard hotel bed, bedding is clean and no signs of current/previous bed bugs anywhere. The walls are quiet, same with the window to the highway/busy road close by. The bathroom in our room has the same problem with the shower bar another review mentioned: incorrectly installed, in need of help but doing the job. The toilet in ours has a leaky seal to the bowl, causing it to make a pulsating filling sound every ~30 seconds. The sink has a leaky faucet. The shower head is extremely dirty, as in looks like beyond the silver shell, nobody has taken a simple bathroom brush to knock away the gummy gunk and hard water crystals, pretty sure, ever. There is a 'safe' in the room, I will see on checkout if there is a safe charge on the paperwork, there was NO mention of this on the way in or as a 'feature', most places will charge a $5 'convienence' fee per day, even if you do not use it, heads up. We we're allowed TWO towels for three people, unfortunately. There is an ironing board (full size) and likewise full size iron. We have one super annoying issue: the light in the bathroom is a tube style florescent light, and the starter must be shot in the fixture, because you have to flick the light switch on and off several times before it will turn on. The second switch in our room does nothing, we assume it is for a bathroom vent, but speculation killed the cat, so we have no evidence so. There are outlets for chargers on the base of the two nightstand-held tables, which is great - there are no other accessible outlets without jacking power from a lamp, alarm or the power strip hding previously mentioned electronics. AC gets cold, you 'get used to' the smell (which has permutated all of our clothes, packed or worn, by the second day). The soap in the only bottle that is not one of the two bar soap appears to not be the typical Super 8/Wyndham soap you get everywhere else, I would say they are refilling with something super cheap, it dries out hair amazingly well (for a person with greasy hair naturally, try it!) No secure entry here on the front, although it's installed and there, it appears to not be in use, the front door is always open. Not sure how many.people said there is constant loitering out front, but we have yet to see anyone loitering and making noise, so a positive?! Overall, this is a 2 star hotel, and is what I would consider the poster child for what one should expect from 2 stars, so you can't be all mad in your review, considering you did book it knowing what you are coming in to. One last mention: housekeeping was cleaning until well after 6pm, enjoy the sound of a vacuum nailing the heck out of your wall at some point! 2/5 stars is spot on - like the WiFi and tv channels, hate the smells and dislike the bathroom issues. Otherwise this is...
Ā Ā Ā Read morethe bedding was dirty, the blankets the sheets everything had stains and spots that glowed under black light. The bed was a king mattress on a futon frame(metal barred folding couch) set on top of a wooden queen frame. The management /employees couldn't find clean linen to replace the dirty linen and we had to carry the nasty stuff downstairs before they would do anything. The room was supposed to sleep 3 but it only had a king bed, which they said should fit 3 people. The floors were dirty, unvacuumed. the mirror on the wall was hanging off, it appeared to be hot glued to the wall, but had come unglued. There were holes and scrapes in the drywall as well as drywall hanging off the ceiling. The shower curtain was dirty with greasy hand prints. The toilet seat fell off everytime I sat on it. The breakfast bar had 3 pieces of bread for toast, a waffle maker with no instructions and oatmeal or cereal with no bowls. They had only a couple plates but ran out. The employee dropped the coffee maker lid on the floor picked it up and put it right back on the decanter without even rinsing it off. The pool had no towels so we used the bath towels. The pool had two locks on it both from the outside. It was filled with dirt and debris and exiting the pool area was hard you had to fit your hand through bars about 6 feet from the ground and angle around to pop a latch to leave. It was an argument to get replacement towels and the towels were full of holes larger than my hand. The employees treated us like we were criminals counting every towel every sheet and doubting what they were told. There was a hole in the floor in the room and the only thing keeping us from falling though was the carpet. They had a huge light shining directly into the window so it was as bright as 3a.m. as it was during day time. The hotel hand numerous screens falling out bent up or missing from the windows. The smoke detector was directly over the bed flashing green and red all night. The AC worked great except it was rattling the entire time without something shoved against it and would make a loud thunk sound when it would shut down. The refrigerator was the exceptionally noisy. The bathroom had a green glow right above the counter top during the night but we were unable to find where it emanated from, it wasn't the GFCI plug. And there is no handicap accessibility. We watched an elderly disabled veteran get told he could walk down a couple stairs which turned out to be numerous stairs with his luggage at the end where his room was located or he could park at the opposite end of the hotel and not have to use any stairs but that they did not have a luggage cart for him to use and no help available. Immediately after he checked in a petite young female walked in minimal baggage and the clerk offered to carry her back pack and a small bag to a room a few feet from the desk on the 1st floor. Truly disgusting. The pictures on trip advisor are antiquated it looks absolutely nothing like the pictures. Over grown bushes trash scattered grounds with numerous window and screen issues. Broken hanging down spouts and loose wires from cameras that were ripped out of the bricks. Cinder blocks sitting on the metal roof 3 stories high. I was truly afraid I would wake up either to bed bugs or a missing vehicle. I personally would not recommend...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy Utter Despicable Experience at Super 8 Motel
I recently had the misfortune of staying at a Super 8 Motel, and it was one of the worst lodging experiences Iāve ever had. I chose this motel because of its budget-friendly pricing, but I quickly realized that even a low price couldnāt justify the deplorable conditions I encountered.
From the moment I stepped into my room, it was clear that cleanliness was not a priority here. The carpets were stained and emitted a musty odor that lingered throughout my stay. It was obvious that the room hadnāt been thoroughly cleaned; I found remnants of trash from previous guests and a thick layer of dust on the furniture.
The bedding situation was equally appalling. The sheets and pillowcases had visible stains, and to my horror, I found hair on the supposedly fresh linens. The bathroom was no better. There was mold and mildew in the shower, and the sink area had rust and peeling paint. I felt uneasy using the facilities and ended up avoiding the shower altogether.
The overall state of disrepair was shocking. The furniture was outdated and falling apart. One of the chairs had a broken leg, and the dresser drawers didnāt close properly. The lamp on the nightstand didnāt work, and when I called the front desk to report it, I was told there were no spare bulbs available.
The air conditioning unit was another nightmare. It was extremely noisy and barely functional, making it impossible to get a good nightās sleep. It either blasted freezing air or none at all, and I found myself constantly adjusting it without any real comfort.
The customer service left much to be desired. The front desk staff were indifferent and unhelpful. When I checked in, the receptionist barely acknowledged me and seemed irritated by my questions. During my stay, any requests I madeālike asking for extra towelsāwere either ignored or met with significant delays.
Housekeeping was virtually non-existent. My room wasnāt serviced at all during my three-night stay. When I inquired, I was told that housekeeping was āshort-staffed,ā which seemed to be a convenient excuse for poor service.
Safety was a major concern. The parking lot and common areas were poorly lit, making me feel uneasy, especially at night. I noticed a lot of loitering around the motel, with non-guests hanging around the parking lot and entrances. This added to my overall sense of insecurity, and I didnāt feel comfortable leaving my room after dark.
In short, my stay at the Super 8 Motel was a series of disappointments. The lack of cleanliness, poor maintenance, unhelpful staff, and safety concerns made it a terrible experience. I was looking for a budget-friendly place to stay, but this experience has taught me that sometimes itās worth spending a little more to ensure a clean, safe, and comfortable environment.
I strongly advise against staying at this Super 8 Motel unless there are no other options. Even then, proceed with caution. Itās not worth the money saved if it means compromising on basic cleanliness, safety, and comfort.
This review captures the essence of my unpleasant stay and should serve as a warning to others...
