So this is my new favorite restaurant. I know, I know... 2 years of pandemic and being stuck at home and we finally get to go out to dinner and I'm smitten with the first place I go...
Seriously, the food was freakin' delicious! We got an appetizer - it was awesome. The meal comes - awesome. We had desert - awesome. Everything was so good. Oh, and did I mention they have happy hour on Fridays?
The service was top notch too. Our server Lucas was the kind of server who understands timing. Just as we needed a refill on drinks, he was there. When we were ready to order, I look up - he's standing at the table. We're pretty easy guests, but still he was on top of everything.
The floor manager Kat swung by, friendly as all hell, and chatted with us. She wanted to make sure we were good, which we were. I'm not certain if it was Kat or Lucas who suggested downloading their app because new users get a discount on their first meal. So we did that and saved like ten bucks!
And the sent us home with two homemade brownies in out to-go bag as a thank you. We've already made plans to go back when family comes into town next month.
So if you HATE delicious food and awesome service, don't go to Marlow's - save the spot for someone who isn't a crazy person.
EDIT: My wife's birthday took us to Marlow's for a second time. The second visit was definitely different from the first, unfortunately. The food was still awesome, but there were a few basic things that weren't up to a 5 star standard...
For instance, wine came to the table in a dirty glass. Wine glasses are notoriously difficult to clean (because of lip gloss and waxy stuff like that), but still - gross.
I happened to notice the salt shaker didn't have the top screwed on. Maybe a stupid prank by the previous customer. Regardless, when i went to tighten it, the inside and outside looked as if it had never been cleaned. I wiped it down (inside and outside of both glass container and top) and the amount of crud was pretty disgusting.
Like I said basic problems - it's been 2 rough pandemic years - new managers, new employees, new problems...
The biggest (and most annoying) issue was that their taps were down. Now I'm not saying that I can't enjoy a good meal without a delicious beer or three... I am saying we got to the restaurant specifically to hit the end of happy hour, so we could enjoy a couple of decently priced beverages.
Unfortunately, the beer taps that were included in the happy hour specials, were not working. So I could buy any bottle beer I like at the standard (non-happy hour) price. The server asked the floor manager, who gave him permission to offer two (I would call) low-end domestic beers at a discount.
I did appreciate the offer, as I know they could have offered nothing for the inconvenience. But that is not a 5 star solution (maybe not even a 4 star solution).
We actually have family coming into town and they've shown interest in going to Marlow's - so maybe i'll have another edit in a week or two.
Until then, Marlow's is a 4 (down from my...
Read moreMy wife visited the restaurant on Friday, October 27, 2023 at 7:30 pm. Unfortunately we had one of the worst restaurant experiences in recent memory. We were sat in a short time on an outside patio and were greeted shortly thereafter by our server Jana. We ordered drinks from the bar and I reminded her that we did not have any place settings. We then waited 20 minutes for our drinks - which were watered down by the time they came to us. Jana apologized and said that she got stuck at another table with talkative patrons. No problem. We then waited another 20 minutes for our food. The food was delivered by another server James who said nothing but appeared behind us and just dropped our dishes on the table. I had to stop him as he walked away because we needed silverware. He said OK and walked away. Ten minutes later I stopped a third server who dropped what she was doing and got our silverware right away. I asked Jana to please get James so we could speak with him; she said that she did but he refused to come back to our table. We then asked for the manager. James the manager came to the table just as server James was walking by. I asked manager James to stop him and I asked him what he did with my request for silverware - he replied "nothing, I am very busy with other tables". James the manager told James the server to walk away and we continued the conversation. James the manager then kept saying how busy James the server is and I said that he wasn't too busy to bring us our food. James kept making excuses and then abruptly put his hand up and literally walked away from the table. He never apologized or said anything other than excuses.
I cannot tell you how unprofessional his actions were. He does not have the temperament nor demeanor to manage a restaurant. The couple sitting behind us were flabbergasted and congratulated us on being outspoken about the service. They too had a bad experience to the point that their food was delivered while menus still sat on their very small table and he had to go to the bar to get his drinks. We will never visit this location again and will notify everyone we know of the incredibly bad service. Shame on them for running their business this way and accepting this type of behavior...
Read moreHaving just moved to this area of Florida (both my husband and I AND my son and daughter in law) none of us had tried M's. My daughter in law and myself decided to have lunch here... I'll be honest, it wasn't our first choice because I had a GC for somewhere else, but they aren't open for lunch, and since we both were interested in trying M's decided this was the time... Let's just say... Thank God for divine intervention! M's will NOT disappoint in any dining experience category period. Staff was fabulous, food delicious, and atmosphere very pleasing. Our entire dining experience was spent on either deciding what we would try from the menu next time we visited, eavesdropping on other patrons as they got their food and remarked how great it was, or admiring the restaurant set up. Two ladies behind us were very vocal on how delicious their chick pea fries were. We commented that would be a definite next time and low and behold they SHARED!!! I felt like I was in Texas all over again, they were so nice. To say the least, I'm over the top excited this place is a mile from my new house.
Almost forgot.. we had the parmesan fries as an appetizer (yummo), my daughter in law had the black & blue salad with gorgonzola dressing, and I had the Asian Ahi tuna salad.... everything was of a great portion, quality, and flavor.. no room for dessert, but our ever so helpful and attentive waitress, Claudia, recommended the creme brulee next time... chick pea fries and creme brulee coming up 😉.
Sorry for the long write up, but this place, as I said, will NOT disappoint.
Ate too fast to...
