One of the major epiphanies of my recent life has been realizing that Oviedo is no longer a small town, and that it is now a bustling metropolis. I came to that realization when I learned that Oviedo was getting a Jinya. There are only a couple of Jinyas in the major major cities, so getting one in Oviedo was a pleasant shock.
So after it opened, we gave it a couple of weeks, in order to get the kinks worked out. After those kinks came and gone, we showed up for lunch right and early one Saturday morning. We ordered a slew of things to try out.
JINYA Bun (Steamed bun stuffed with slow braised pork chashu, cucumber and baby mixed greens served with JINYA's original bun sauce and mayonnaise). Perfectly steamed bun, great portion of this super tender pork, hit with a pop of fresh crunch form the cucumber, and all tied together with the sauces. I loved this.
Takoyaki (Octopus balls. Battered octopus over egg tartar topped with mayonnaise, okonomiyaki sauce, fresh cut green onion and smoked bonito flakes). More places need takoyaki! Very tender octopus in this soft little fritter. Absolutely doused in sauce and covered with even more bonito flakes. Very fun, and very delicious.
Crispy Chicken 5pc (Juicy fried chicken thigh with an original garlic pepper served with mixed baby greens and JINYA’s original ponzu sauce). Excellent fried chicken. Very juicy, lovely thigh meat, seasoned to perfection, and that's before you dip them into the sweet tang of that ponzu sauce.
Pork Chashu Bowl (Slow braised pork chashu, simmered shiitake mushroom, kikurage namul, green onion, seasoned egg and sesame seeds). This was a fun little bowl. I love bowls like this, because they're so delicious, and the portion size is perfect. I could eat this thing and it just keep like an app, leaving me room for more.
JINYA Tonkotsu Black (pork broth: pork chashu, kikurage, green onion, nori dried seaweed, seasoned egg, garlic chips, garlic oil, fried onion and spicy sauce » served with thin noodles). The main event. The reason Jinya exists.
This broth was excellent. It was deep, complex, spotted with garlic oil. Very delicious. All the little toppings went a long way towards adding to the flavor of the dish and making every bite just a little different. Pork was plentiful and yummy. And that egg, was dynamite. Such a deep umami that smacks you right in the mouth, in a good way.
Overall, Jinya was amazing. Jinya is the exception to the rule that chains are not good. This is a chain that is very good, and I look forward to coming here many times over the time I...
Read moreHello to everyone. My name is Carlos G. Sanchez Jr, and I am an ARMY American disable Veteran that serve our country with HONOR and PRIDE and a local resident of Oviedo and live here for the last 25 years. My Dads name and mine appears to be in the Oviedo Veterans tribute at Oviedo in the park and soon my two kids now serving on Active duty. We are a family of warriors with a long military history. So happy to see Oviedo grow for the good. Decided tonight to look over Google for a Ramen place and found that this one was recently open to public and decided to try it out since its close to the holidays. I drove immediately there since I was super hungry and starving for this special dish and found a nice disabled parking close to the main entrance and found that very convenient. I walk in and wait for around 4 minutes looking around standing there, and no one came to help me out since I saw the sign to wait to be seated. Decided at this point to seat myself and wait. On my way to the table, I encounter this young gentleman and he ask me if he cough help me. I reply saying that I wanted to eat and was waiting on someone to help me out and no one came, and he reply saying that the place was tonight for a private party that he was sorry. I observe these young kids looking at me and Lauf at me since they listen to the conversation and immediately, I decided at this point to walk outside feeling humiliated and embarrassed since I am a 60-year-old man. Went back to my car but then I decided to walk back and check outside the door and all around for any sigh that indicated that it was a private activity happening and found no indication at all. I got home and look over my computer to see if it was any indication on this private party thing and found nothing and decided to write this so the staff can read on it in order for no one else to go thru what I experienced tonight. I hope no one feel ever the way I felt tonight when going out for a nice meal. Also hope for the future they post something on their website or a sign outside before people drive out there for a nice dinner and waist their trip there just like I did that decided to just drive home and eat a can of spaghettis. Today is 12/19/2023 and wish everyone to have a very...
Read moreI used to be a regular at Jinya, going once or twice per week because its very close to where I live, and the atmosphere and the bar is very relaxing for a drink and a nice filling meal after a long work day. I like the fact that they have a rewards program that gives you free food items when you are a regular, because if you go as frequently as I did, it certainly is a nice thing to have in your back pocket! The brussels sprouts tempura is very good, and I would definitely recommend. I used to really like the pork gyoza, but the last few times I went I didn't really care for it as much, so I would say its sort of mediocre compared to before - but to be fair, I come in usually in the evenings so the kitchen may be a little beat by then. I usually get the spicy chicken ramen, but I get extra chicken because the chicken can sometimes be fatty or small. The staff is generally very friendly. I have only had one bad experience with a female bartender who was throwing bleach near me while I ate, which made me very disappointed but a young girl was able to turn it around, but I can't remember her name. The other bartender however completely ignored me and went on her phone and just generally looked miserable when I mentioned the bleach fumes. I get wanting to get out of there early, but your tips will suffer with that type of behavior. I believe however she has been since fired as I never saw her again after that. If you can, request Natalia or Natasha if you are dining in. These two ladies are awesome waitresses, super friendly, very attentive and sociable and won't let you down. Not to mention - as far as bartenders go, Canaan is hands down the best bartender there, always providing amazing service, great conversation and always makes sure your drinks are great and the service is fast! I would highly recommend requesting either him if you're sitting at the bar, or Natasha/Natalia if you are sitting...
