We’ve had bad luck with Mexican restaurants within Owensboro. Most of them are overrated and we’ve received two cases of food poisoning from two others.
In comes Real Hacienda, where we decided to try yesterday for the first time. With it being almost 2 on a Sunday, they were really busy and we weren’t sure what to expect.
From the minute we walked in the door, we were greeted with smiling faces and the gentleman whom seated us was so funny and kind to our son. Most places typically just grab menus and seat the patrons without batting an eye, but I appreciated the humor and enthusiasm this guy had.
Our waiter came within two minutes of us sitting, brought drinks promptly, and the food arrived in less than 10 minutes. The waiter also continued to check on us while we ate which is really rare.
The food was some of the best we’ve eaten anywhere. It was fresh, cooked properly, seasoned properly, and the chicken for a change was not dry!!! The salsa appeared to be really homemade unlike many establishments that appear to be Pace out of a jar.

As i dove off the toilet seat the bomb released and created a splashdown destroying the entire building. 5 Stars best...

It took at least five minutes before we were approached by a waiter. My order came out five minutes after ordering, but my boyfriend didn't get his meal until ten minutes after that. The food was alright. The rice tasted very dried out, like it had been sitting for awhile. The queso was great, but the 'salsa' was just tomato juice with herbs. Not horrible, but probably...
