Favorite place to get coffee, extremely friendly service but not fake, I do truly believe they enjoy their jobs. Very helpful and knowledgeable of what they do and make. They seem willing to create a friendly, open and overall enjoyable atmosphere for their customers and even themselves as they have to be there longer than anyone. As far as the atmosphere goes I really enjoy the rustic/modern theme with their choice of barn wood tables, organic looking wood benches and some other table tops, offset that with the concrete counter top with the embossed logo and somewhat of an industrial look mixed with brick and then clean, smooth painted walls, it all is very nicely done and mixes well.
On the main point, their coffee is great. I am not a coffee connoisseur but I have been drinking coffee long enough from various coffee places and myself to be able to taste quality. They mix their flavors very nicely without overdoing it in one area or the next. Nothing tastes watered down, everything tastes fresh including then pastry they offer. They do offer some higher end coffee grinders, French presses, kettles and the like. They even offer some merchandise like T-shirts, hoodies and sweatshirts although my only downside to that is the price on them. Even for specific merch with the logo it is the only reason I haven't...
Read moreThe beautiful brick buildings of Owosso have been discovered by hipster realtors. As an upshot, two decent, independent coffee houses have sprouted to give twenty-first century creatives a place to talk, meet, take Skype meetings and caffeinate. In one of these brick storefront, Foster has perfected the hipster coffeehouse. I'm sitting at a table made out of distressed, reclaimed urban plank, a board cut in an sawmill without a doubt. The interior has a clean, sunlit look and at the counter awaits a bright cheery staff. The house has a long list of events promoting Downtown Owosso as a place to hangout and shop and live. This includes sponsoring the first annual ball drop for New Year's Eve. That'll occur kitty corner to Foster on the site where one of those beautiful brick buildings burned to a ruin. You can just feel the optimism when you open the door to Foster.
One has to love the branding, centered on a shade of blue I'll just call cerulean. Or turquoise? This is a really duplicatable concept that takes all the brightness of Madcap Coffee in Grand Rapids and adds color to it. It makes me think of Blue Bottle, the Silicon Valley coffeehouse for venture capitalists. The house serves Madcap Coffee, but soon will have its own line of roasts, starting with the newly introduced "La...
Read moreMy wife and I have been here more times thab we can count. The coffee quality itself is always good and anytime we have the baked goods we are always satisifed. The service is also great and the baristas are always very professional, attentive and, very skilled at what they do. They do seasonal rotations of flavors which are very tasty (the peach cobbler in the Autumn is the best).
The actual store front is very calm, relaxing and tidy. They have a nice industrial aesthetic that works well with the rustic wood tables and other furniture and even the lighting compliments the surroundings. In the warmer months they will open big door-like foldable windows in the front to open up the space even more, this allows fresh air to flow in and provide seamless transition to outside patio seating on the open sidewalks. Even with this area being opened the temperature within the store stays comfortable on warmer days.
Lastly they participate in local community events held downtown throughout all seasons and serve as a hub for activity, as the service isn't diminished even with an excessive amount of people ordering drinks. Highly recommend them above any Biggby...
