A couple of friends gave me and my daughter the scoop on Sullivan's earlier this year. During that first visit, we were fortunate to meet Jerry, one half of the husband and wife ownership team. He introduced himself and made us feel like welcome guests in his home. It was a delicious meal with friends in a lovely atmosphere. Since then I've been trying to make it back for another visit with my husband. Things finally worked out last month, on my birthday. This visit was just as wonderful as the first. This time around I had slightly altered version of Irish Layered crisps. You can get this favorite with with house made fries instead of chips. The fries are made with a special seasoning blend, covered with slow roasted pulled pork, then topped with shredded white cheddar cheese (from Ireland) placed into the oven until the cheese is deliciously melted, then finally topped with a house bbq sauce made with Jameson whiskey. OMG, it's wonderful! And the cheesecake... It has a rich and creamy texture, with a hint of sweetness in the unexpected crust. All of this comes together in a cascade of flavor, that washes over your tastebuds in a tidal wave of goodness, yet doesn't feel heavy on your stomach. As you can probably guess, my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our meals. We'll be making another visit very soon! If you like delicious, freshly prepared comfort foods, served by genuinely courteous & friendly waitstaff, at a very reasonable price point, you'll love Sullivan's. Do your tastebuds a favor, stop in for a visit. You'll be glad you did.

We decided to try this place because the reviews are phenomenal. Sadly, I don’t think it lived up to the hype! We had a reservation for a group of 4. We ordered the pretzels which were pretty good. (Probably our favorite part of the entire meal) I personally ordered the Irish Dip. It tasted good, but portion size wasnt great. The fries I was served seemed like the bottom of the bag with some crispy little fries and some that were not fully cooked. We ordered the crème brûlée and pumpkin cheesecake for dessert. The crème brûlée was terrible—not very dense. Just kind of tasted like vanilla pudding. The cheesecake was okay. I was super unimpressed and I was looking forward to trying this place. Maybe I will try it on a weekday when its less busy.

Our local favorite Irish pub. The staff is super awesome and very friendly. The beers are cold and the food is good They have a nice bar downstairs with a few tables. The upstairs can be rented for events and they are excellent hosts. Great beer selection of craft, domestic, and imported from Ireland and Scotland. Really good and unique cocktails, but they can make any classic cocktail as well. Salads and appetizers are excellent as always. Highly recommended.

It was our first visit. The staff was so friendly! I liked that it wasn't too loud on the second floor so you can have a nice conversation without yelling. Very nice, clean and home-like atmosphere. I ordered garden salad with blue cheese dressing and added grilled chicken. The greens in the salad and dressing were great! So fresh and delicious! For those who prefer healthy food that would be a joy to eat that salad. But I wish I didn't add the chicken... It tasted as if it was grilled some time ago and then got frozen, warmed up and put on my plate. I am sure, it wasn't the case but that's how it tasted to me because the chicken was too soft and didn't have a harder texture I am used to, so it was different to me. It was eatable but it wasn't something I enjoyed. I liked that it wasn't a breaded choice. Grilled is always healthier. Maybe I should try salmon instead next time, people put good reviews about fish. The chowder soup was ok, too tart for my taste, maybe, it's got too much lemon juice, again for MY taste. The texture though was perfect, creamy, attractive, the ingredients were awesome! My BF liked it a lot. We got chicken tenders with fries for our kid. The fries were great, absolutely perfect and the chicken tenders were crispy but I didn't find much chicken there, we tried a couple pieces... I wish they had a healthier grilled chicken choice for kids instead. I saw people eating fish and chips. I read great reviews about those. That dish looked yummy. I guess we just didn't make fully right choices for our table. But we loved the experience. The garden salad was perfect! I am glad I ordered it! If I ever wanted to order one great healthy salad in the area that would be...

How did I not realize that this pub has been in business in Oxford for years?

There are plenty of Sports Bars in Oxford, with good bar food. Sullivan’s Pub is quite different, offering an Irish pub experience (all that is missing is the contorted geometry of a 300 year-old building) with excellent food and an extremely friendly atmosphere. And yes, there are a few TVs so you can still keep up with sports.

The food is not standard fare - there is an excellent selection of traditional Irish dishes, and from my experience so far each one is uniquely crafted at real restaurant level. E.g. the ‘bangers’ in the Bangers-and-mash are homemade. The focus on the delicate natural flavors of the food is exceptional , with a lack of over-saucing that is often used to cover up a mediocre dish. There is nothing wrong with bar-food, but this is not bar food. Then again, the burgers looked good too.... The menu also offers gluten-free and vegetarian options that are not an afterthought.

Beverages are good also, with a nice selection of beers on tap that keep with the European theme.

The staff are great, with the owner?manager? taking time to speak with and meet the customers. Great touch, very different from any other Oxford experience.

This is not just a pub - it is an excellent restaurant built on/around a great pub.

I have not been disappointed in multiple visits. Well done - I can understand why you are busy.

And I am an idiot for not noticing this...
